HiSo I set out back in December to create a 1:1 replica of the hero mask from Friday the 13th part 3. I have painstakingly drilled every hole and cut the eyes to basically spot on to the original (there may be some off less than a millimeter, just as close as I can get with the photos I have) using all the photos I have available. I spent the past few weeks trying to color match the original basecoat, which as I know some of you can imagine, is really tough because of how much the color seems to change both onscreen and in on-set photos, due to lighting conditions, exposure, type of film/camera, reproduction quality, aging of negatives and god knows how many other variables that create very slight differences, so getting all these photos to agree is tough. But I'm plugging along and I wanted to show you guys what I have so far, having recently finished the basecoat...<img src=\"http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/jasonlivessince1980/Ultimate3colorcomparison.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />I'm going to start detailing today, and eventually all the crackle work you see on the Cover of "The Final Chapter" will be reproduced as faithfully as photos allow, as will every spec of visible dirt. I'm unemployed, I need a hobby <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" />I will be regularly updating my blog <a href=\"http://jasonlivessince1980.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">http://jasonlivessince1980.blogspot.com</a> with further sneak previews. I hope this thing turns out as great as I'm envisioning it.Thanks for looking!<img src=\"http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/jasonlivessince1980/Ultimate3logo.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

Jason,I love the base coat, great job so far! Very much looking forward to seeing the finished copy, I know it will be great! How did you make the basecoat, a color you mixed yourself? Brushed? Airbrushed? This is going to look insane when finished, I know it. I'd never be able to stare at the part 4 cover mask and replicate the crackle.Goodluck,Jon

That is actually the blank you sent me, I did finally get the other one from Ken but it was cut too close to the mold edges for this project. It was really a golly gee willikers perfect blank, even the little crease by the nose I have seen in Frightstuff blanks lately was not present.Sickness, the color is a mixture of acrylic colors, I couldn't spray it on with the airbrush I had because of the thickness I needed to avoid runs, so I bought something called a Preval sprayer I found on ebay, works like a charm. Now the fun begins Wink

Man, that is looking sweet so far. It's cool when someone puts this kind of work into a project like this. Nothing I like better than a really cool screen accurate hok. I will be following this and looking forward to the end product.Mike

But Jason,In part 3 it was plain white with no weathering when Shelly had it! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banana.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"banana.gif\" /> (In all seriousness, I do wish if people are going to insist that the mask was clean sometimes, they would at least make the right color). I keep coming back to this thread, the color you did is just great! Any idea when you'll have this thing finished? Thanks,Jon
