The new trend that seems to be happening quite frequently is that blu-ray is getting all the special features/extras & the standard dvd getting next to nothing.

I have yet to upgrade to blu-ray because I do not want to double dip on upgrading my movies & I am not particularity a fan of paying $30 for a new release blu-ray.

It is almost like they are sticking it to the people who have not or won't upgrade to blu-ray.

Yes it sucks big time :yucky:
Blu-ray is over $50 were I live
Also I hate the way they would sell blu-ray & DVD together for certain titles.
Why pay for another copy of the same thing when you only want the blu-ray version Sick

Offering blu ray & dvd in dual format on the same package is a waste.

The extra digital copy of the movie is also another useless cash grab that is not necessary.
If people really needed this they would just burn their own copy.

I have a friend that upgraded from vhs to laser disc to dvd to hd dvd to blu ray.
He actually has 5 or more copies of the same movie on these different formats.

do what i do. buy new releases and your favorite older movies on blu-ray. there's no need in buying the same movies over and over. a good blu-ray player will upscale the dvd and increase the quality a bit. it's not a dramatic increase but it is noticeable most of the time.

also, walmart has a $70 blu-ray player made by magnavox. i bought it to test it out and see how good it was. i ended up keeping it to use on my projector. even though it lacks the features higher end blu-ray players have, it plays my blu-rays and upscales my dvds perfectly.

    just something to think about.

    Good advice.

I own a ps3. I have my favorite old movies like Halloween on blu ray and dvd. lol i pretty much bought all my favorites on blu ray again but I guess that's what you have to do if u want to see it in it's best quality possible.

They should just put out everything for both but like with Friday the 13th we had nothing on the dvd and a ton on the blu ray...

I guess were all gonna have to go blu ray one day. Lets hope the format doesn't get any better any time soon.....

it's crazy evil dead is like 10 bucks on amazon and some others are like 26 or 30. It's crazy..... I just wish they were all under 20.

I have upgraded to blu...but I don"t buy everything on blu. Only my favorites and stuff that is going to look sweet like Iron Man 2, The Dark Knight, etc.. What really chaps my a$$ is that you can't really get features on the normal blu-ray anymore either. If you want ANY special features at all you have to buy the crazy *combo pak* or whatever that has like 3 or 4 discs...one dvd, one blu, one digital copy....wtf?? I just want the movie on blu-ray WITH special features!! I don't want to have to have the extra discs that I will never use. Not to mention the fact that those combo paks are like ten bucks more than the already more expensive blu-ray anyway. FAIL

    I finally bought myself a Blu-Ray player.

I bought the Predators Blu-Ray which has some great special features & the regular dvd format had next to nothing in special features.

The quality of the picture was not much better than my Toshiba dvd player using a regular dvd with colorstream.
The sound quality was a little more noticeable.

Yeah an HDMI cable is a must, The blu-ray.com review gave the PQ and AQ on Predators a 4.5 out of 5, So you would have to notice a huge difference compared to dvd.

Yeah something is awry there...there's no way you can't notice a difference between blu-ray and dvd unless you're skipping a step. Blu-ray trumps standard def. No bones about it.
