Dude!!! You REALLY use butcher knives for the blades? Dang... This is gonna be harder than I thought!!! Tongue AWESOME Work there, dude. Just makes me want to have YOU make a Friggin awesome glove for me as opposed to me messing up on a bunch of crappy glove attempts... Oh well, welcome to the gravel pit... Love the pics.

yeah Tully, I use butcher knives for 1,2,3, steak knives for 4, probably use the butcher knives for pt5, butterknives of course for part 6. And my VS blades I\'m actually grinding down from some samurai swords I bought online. They\'re the only steel that I could find thick enough for what I\'m looking for.

    Hey William

I never knew you grinded all blades by hand. Why not get them machined? Yeah it\'s a huge pain in the ass (trust me) but there\'s nothing worse than speding 45-60 min grinding each blade. Just curiouse to see how another glove maker gets down. Smile

well to be honest I\'ve though about it. But there\'s another glove maker that does most of his work by machine, and it\'s clean and fast. But it just feels \'wrong\' to me somehow. Making the gloves is an art form, (whether some can accept that or not) just like sculpting. Only you\'re sculpting with metal. To have machines do some of the work for me seems like it would defeat the purpose of why I make them to begin with. I make them by hand, cuz \'the burned guy\' would have made them by hand. He wouldn\'t have a machine cutting the templates or blades out for him, he\'d grind it.

But yeah, grinding blades does suck and takes quite a bit longer then people realize. Especially the part 1 and 2 blades since they\'re thin and curved.

uhm, I guess the shortest answer is. I like that they\'re 100% made by hand, hopefully other people/collectors will too. It\'s more time consuming, but I like the end product better. Especially since I\'ve been over and over every inch of it personally.
