I just got in the Crystal Lake to Manhattan set, and just watched part 4. I again wondered, just like I\'ve done every singe time I\'ve ever watched it, what is going on when Tommy shaves his head and tells Jason to remember. Has anyone ever explained what this was all about? I have a couple theories about it, but even they don\'t make a lot of sense. One is that he\'s trying to make Jason believe he is his inner child or something to distract him, another one is that he was trying to make him believe he was somebody in his past to distract him. I know what his intention was, but it seems like a strange way of distracting him instead of "Hey Jason!" and mooning him or something  . I was just wondering if that part was ever explained or if anyone had any ideas of why they might have chose that particular scenario.

yep, Tommy figured that if he could resemble a "young Jason" he might play on his sympathies long enough to give him an opening ...
    then WHAMMO!

Tommy did it because he saw those drawings in the newspaper clippings and I guess, being the prodigy child he is in that film, thought he could distract Jason by making him see a more human part of himself? A past of himself maybe?
Personally, I think it was just a gimick to get Jason distracted, like what we saw in Part 2 where Ginny puts on his mom\'s sweater, pulls her hair back, and tries to sweet talk him. They are all to put our big guy in a confused state so they can hurt him. Luckily he smarts up eventually... too bad for him in Part 4 though.. Wasn\'t fast enough.

Yeah, with a machete. I always felt that Jason kind of hallucinates and "see\'s" his mother everywhere. Like in that scene at the end of 2 with Ginny.
