    hey gang
i have a mask mould i did thats ready for latex to be poured in, days earlier the front mould cracked in 3 places when takin it off the sculpture and i put it back together with a filler with latex compounds in it. So yesterday i did my first pour as a test, when i pulled it out and had a look, were i had used the filler the latex just weakened and snapped, im thinking the filler must be interfearing with the latex, do u think i should use a clear coat on the inside of the mould
    thanks guys

if you clearcoat the inside of the mold, you\'ll never get another mask out of it again. How can the plaster pull the ammonia out of the latex if you\'ve sealed the inside of the mold??

I\'d say you should have tried to repair the mold with plaster.

Hopefully someone else here knows more about mold repair then me. I\'m still new to the mask side of things. I do know if you clearcoat the inside of the mold, it\'ll never work again.

    Good Luck

ok, just talked with one of the guys whos brain I pick for my own projects, and he said:

"used the wrong filler, throw the mold out and cry a little"

"not gonna be able to fix that, the compounds in the filler are reacting witht he latex and taking the elasticity out of it"

"tell him the only way he could possibly fix it is scrape out ALL the filler material, and replace it with plaster, and hope there was no bleeding, which there probably was"

    Sorry bro, good luck.

Sorry to hear that man, i\'m sure you put alot of time into that mold. Sad
If you didn\'t add the filler, you might have been able to save it with some plaster build up over it.

You\'re supposed to use plaster to fill cracks(the same plaster you molded with). Now all the castings will have super thin spots. You\'re kind of screwed
