The Defeo murders happened, but the rest was proven to be a hoax time and time again. DO pick up the book, though! It is an EXCELLENT read, and fuggin\' scary as hell. And then after you\'re done reading that, pick up Stephen Kaplan\'s The Amityville Horror Conspiracy. Then draw your own conclusions.

I\'ve got no serious qualms with Michael Bay... Some of his movies suck, but if you don\'t like that type of movie, don\'t watch it... It\'s not as though he completely screwed up TCM, I personally thought it was a good movie... It wasn\'t much like the original one, with the exception of basic plotline, but I liked it, none the less... I expect Amityville will be pretty decent, as well... Like I said, I have no serious problems with Bay, myself...
