Rented this movie tonight and was pretty surprised. For every 20 horror movies I rent that I\'ve never heard of there\'s usually a good 18 of them that are pretty bad. Then again I love cheesy horror movies. But anyway,..Dead Birds was pretty cool. It was like a western/horror movie with some decent gore effects.

Basically some Confederate outlaws rob a bank, (*damn good gore scene, blood flying, heads a\'sploding*) and head off to hide. They go to an old plantation house completely surrounded by a huge cornfield and spend the night during a thunderstorm and soon they all start having \'visions\' of the houses past and realize they\'re not exactly alone in the house. *wow, long run on that one was*

anyway, I thought it was neat seeing a western horror movie that had some pretty cool looking effects in it. If you\'re at Blockbuster and don\'t know what to rent, you could do alot worse then this low budget independent film. I\'d give it about 7-8 stars out of 10.

this film actually took place within walking distance of my parents home here in Mobile, Alabama. I had not moved back down here until about a week after they had finished shooting. When I was a kid, we used to sneak down to that plantation as well as the graveyard all the time at night. We also used to swim in the creek that flows right beside the plantation as well. Very creepy place to visit during the day....and an even creepier place at night...The film was actually quite well done in my opinion.

btw..fangoria did a set visit on this film and talk about the ghosts and such in the area. They mention crybaby bridge, which is located right before you turn right onto the dirt road leading to the plantation home. We swam right there growing up. There is also a ghost of a massive slave who watches over the slave grave yard and quarters. It is said that he did this while he was alive, watching over all the children as if they were his own...Alot of bad things happened at that plantation based upon what i have been told by the caretakers.
