Hey Y\'all. Long time no post I know but you can\'t keep an old brit away Tongue

Ever since I was a wee nipper I\'ve been a Star Wars fan and for just as long I\'ve wanted a good Stormtrooper helmet so I\'ve been looking around searching the net to see whats out there and I had no idea there was such a choice when you step above the regular mass produced stuff. I decided on a kit, figured it would be a fun little project, plus I was inspired by the great job Trav did on his Scout Trooper and Boba kits, and boy was I right. Picked up a great abs kit on the bay and it was waiting for me last night when I got home. Talk about gob smacked, this kit came with the lot and it was all pre cut and trimmed too. Got started on it last night, no time like the present eh, and finished it up just a little while ago. Went great and I\'m damn happy with the finished piece.

Not entirely accurate to any one version but it is a \'hero\' helmet with the bubble lenses, lower brow and 3 nose vents. I\'m after a \'stunt\' version now to complete the set

You all know me and pics so here we go. This is the kit as I received it...

Here its got the main pieces just taped in place so I could check the fit. It wasn\'t far off and just heeded a little trimming, sanding and heating and bending here and there to get it to all sit nicely...

Here it is with the main pieces bolted and bonded in place. The dome is still just sitting in there at this stage...

And here it is all finished 8)

No real problems although the custom hard hat liner took some lining up to make sure the clips you have to cement in place lined up with the the actual head band but it all worked out perfect. Heres a shot inside so you can see what I mean...

I was originaly thinking I\'d have to paint the pieces before construction to get the clean glossy white look I was after but as soon as I saw the pieces I knew there was no need, the abs shines like a beauty.

This is just the start of my new Star Wars collection and I\'ve also just received one of the Rubbies deluxe Vader helms. Very nice piece for a mass produced item but I\'ve got some plans for it. Already cut out the standard mesh in the mouth section and replaced it with some ally stuff from work but I can feel a total re-paint coming on to give it that bling bling gloss look Cool

Here it is right now...

I\'m also waiting on a Jango Fett helm, a Scout Trooper Helm kit and I\'ve got my eye on a Boba Fett helm too so as they say, watch this space  Dont be surprised if you get a pm soon Trav, I may need to pic your brains, master

Thanks for viewing ya rebel scum!

Nicely done Andy! Bloody brill mate! Came out beautiful, real nice work! That\'s the good ole FX/GT kit, pretty standard fare with the 501st, and definitely not a bad bucket! I actually have the FULL FX suit coming, and I can not wait to get that together!! Like you, I\'ve been coherced by the dork side since I first saw Jedi, then Empire, then ANH last LOL!
Lookin forward to seeing the Vader done up too, here\'s a link for ya http://www.imperial-fleet.com/vader/ I\'m gonna do one up too, have the lenses and new tusks already, just need the helmet.

Lookin forward to your Scout Jango and Boba man, and definitely, if you need any tips, info (I did a TON of research) or anything, just lemme know!

Cheers guys, glad you hadn\'t forgotten little old me :whistling:

And a big thanks to you Trav for that link, thats just what I was planning in the paint department for my Vader helm. I was already planning on changing the tusks but now I\'m tempted to go the whole hog and fix the other areas. It\'ll have to wait until I get the Scout kit in from Kropserkel through, thats the next project I\'m itching to get cracking on with.

Cheers muckas
