    crap ,my comps dvd player took a crap on me!!!!!!!!!!!! when you insert a disc you can hear it spin stop, spin stop and the light flashes then goes idol after a few minutes. It sometimes flashes up a window saying no disc in e drive wtf. i tried downloading a new player program to no avail. any help would be apreciated.

    I dont have a dvd player, but my cd rom did exactly that last year...and it was just fried.... may not be the case, but it sounds like it..

    A friend of mine had the same problem. His was fried as well. Hope it\'s not the case for you, but that\'s my experience with it.

    If you have a bootable CD (such as a Windows install CD), try to boot off of it. If you can boot off of it, remove the CD, restart, and boot Windows into Safe mode (Hit F8 before the Windows splash screen appears). Try to access the drive from there. If that works, then something is hosing it up in Windows (normal mode), which gets more complicated since programs often fight for control (e.g. Roxio). In that event, if you\'re running Windows XP, you can restore to a previous save state before the problems started.
