Just curious if anybody else feels this way too.

Ever since I\'ve became a fan o\' the Halloween franchise (many years ago), there has always been something that has bothered me if certain points during the Halloween films, and of pictures that people take of themselves dressed up or masks on display. The EYES! I absolutely HATE seeing Michael\'s eyes behind his mask. Honestly, it totally takes the mysteriousness and fear right out of him. It basically just makes him look like an average Joe that just picked up some mask and went nuts. But really, it\'s not even scary when you can see his eyes. What I love to see is a Myers mask that is just completely black inside. The whole idea of hiding his actual appearence is crucial to how I look at him. Now, there are exceptions. For example, the picture at the top of this site (The Psycho). That\'s fine because you don\'t actually see his pupils. And certains times in the first two entries in the franchise are fine as well. But when we start getting farther and farther into the franchise (H4 on...) it just looks dumb. ESPECIALLY in Halloween:Resurrection (BLEH!). So yeah, this isn\'t not at all a bash at people that put eyes in their masks. That\'s their own choice. But that sort of thing just kind of takes away from Myers\'s look. You know? Meh, maybe you don\'t.

    Well...maybe some people agree or disagree...let\'s see?....wait...rhyme?

I always hated the fact that the Myers Sidesh*w 12" figure had his eyes visible. It looks ridiculous.

there\'s alot to hate about the Myers Side.Show (*these filters are getting really annoying really fast*) unfortunetely. Especially sad considering they\'ve made numerous F.reds, J.asons, and Leath.er.Faces.

I hear your point about the eyes, but uhm, you can see D.I.C.K.!!!! warlocks eyes pretty clearly in alot of shots in H2 and it never really made Myers any less scary to me. There\'s some shots in h8 I\'d say especially because you can see his eyes he looks really pissed.

*S.U.C.Ks when you\'ve got to edit 3-4 different things in your post cuz of the stupid filters. It was funny for about a minute. That minute expired awhile ago. *

I agree,in fact many masks look more sinister when displayed or worn in this way.You can get an effect when wearing a mask for photos, by putting on a black stocking mask first,it also acts as a liner which is better for the mask.Oh! if you aqquire the black stocking from a lady freind do wash it first you never know where it,s been Big Grin Seriously though some film makers already consider this in a way in other films. For instance, the TCM remake, before donning the mask big Andrew would have dark make up applied arround the eyes,it had a better effect of course.I once saw some Sawguy masks for sale on Ebay that had a black gauze like material fixed behind the eyes and mouth,so you could still see and breath with it on ok, I thaught they looked really cool

I may be alone here but I thought Brad Loree w/ the black makeup under his eyes looked pretty wicked. I am in no way saying resurection was a good flick, just thought his eyes looked pretty sinister in it.
Also Warlock was an awesome Myers IMO and you could see his eyes pretty clearly and this never bothered me a bit.
Maybe when it comes to display eyes some people use mannequin eyes and those tend to be very feminine and very weak looking, I can agree with you there. My lifesize display myers has custom eyes that make him look insane and I wouldnt change them. Smile

I have to say I feel quite the opposite about the eyes. I feel that it is way more creepy when you see his eyes...for the same reason you don\'t like it...because it makes him look like an average joe.

When it\'s just black behind there, I feel that it takes the human quality out of him and he becomes just like any other monster...and that\'s not why I find Myers scary. Jman is a monster to me in my opinion, but Myers is a real human. Adding the human element makes it scarier to me because it brings life to the look of the character. I guess that\'s why I\'ve always liked part one the best (well, there are lots of reasons for that)...he was the most human in that film. He was just an escaped menal patient trying to stalk some kids and kill them...that is quite realistic and can happen to anyone, anywhere. It was only at the end when he shows more of an inhuman side by being able to take stabbings and bullets and once you see that he\'s gone, your imagination just runs wild with what may happen next... In the rest of the films (well after part 2) he became just like Jman and that burned guy and the human element was driven out of the character.

I think this is an interesting topic for discussion because it seems like people either really like the eyes, or really do not...not many are in between. Obviously it\'s all a matter of personal taste and I respect anyone who doesn\'t like seeing the eyes. I think it\'s funny that while some people hate seeing it on displays, I\'m trying hard to actually find eyes to show behind my masks!

well if showing his eyes makes him look liek a reg joe that put on a mask and went nuts then good casue thats what he is..He isnt some demon or zombie..He is a nut job thats fucked in the head.. its much scarier to see him as a human doing these things rather than some monster from which u expect that brutality...the whoe H8 mask was a bit extreme showing the makeup smaller eyes whole and less lighjt towards the face would have been better..

but staring into the eyes of a killer are one of the most fighteningthings u can imagine
