Why Do You Collect?

That\'s the question my parents always ask. Please, my fellow collecters, we do YOU collect? Why can\'t you just like the movie and be done with it? Why the $300.00 Michael Myers mask? No one besides us can tell it\'s not from Don Post. Most of the people in this universe have never and never will have heard of Jordu Schell, or even, for that matter, correctly name Jman Voorhees, that burned guy that burned guy, michael myers, or bubba? Most people don\'t get us. I can\'t answer this, because I don\'t know why. Just a little something for you guy to write about. I really want to know.

I like to dress up and get candy on Halloween! Ha! Naw....I really like the reactions I get from people when I\'m dressed up on Halloween. And it\'s also just cool to say ...."Yep, I own that". And one other thing...I really like to share pics with people on these horror boards that have the same interests. Very cool.

People are materialistic by nature and just accumulate stuff. Isn\'t there something that each of your parent\'s puts more money than they should into, that not many other people share a fondness for? Example, my mother like hand-cut crystal, and my step-father likes pocket knives.

I\'ve always been a fan of horror for as long as I can remember. My dad got me into it. Of the modern horror icons, Jman V. has always been my favorite.

I got into collecting pretty much when Mcfarlane came out with Movie Maniacs. For years it was figures until I went to Monster Mania and found NIGHTOWL. That\'s when the masks came and I\'m lovin\' it!
My wallets not though. Between masks and figures that takes up the majority of my spending funds...

You\'re right, not too many people other than us in the hobby can understand why we do it.

I\'m proud of my collection, but if some of my friends knew how much I invest into it all, they think I\'m insane. I\'m sure that\'s how it is for alot of us.

Well i think myers got me into it when i waz little so eversince i have liked collecting and stuff...and i think it\'s funny bcuz everbodyelse knows nothing about horror...they think jman uses a chainsaw and they call bubba the texas chainsaw massacre guy.. :woot: So yeah nobodyelse really understands...people r like your weird...why do u like masks..yeah so yeah...yeahhhhhhhh :biggrin:

i\'ve always been a collector, i have bungloads of baseball cards, pillsbury doughboy stuff, and yes horror stuff. i like the movies because there fun, some make u laught, nudity, death scenes, and cool effects in some. i collect cause its neat to have stuff thats similar to the movies i like. and i do like the reactions, althought come across as creepy at times :thumbsup:

Why Do I collect?

When I was younger, and I loved Jman. I didn\'t know about all the mass stuff that was out there. So when I started looking on ebay, seeing people\'s collections and being on this forum, I began to see what was really out there. I live in N.J so there\'s the Chillar every couple of months and now MoM, which I like MM better. I rember buying my 1st that burned guy vs. Jman poster in Spencers and getting autos from Kane at the CT. That\'s all I had.............

I was collecting here and there but when I really started was when my so called GF and her family was doing $^%^&^&^^&& to me left and right, So I was like F this and put my attention to my hero. So I found out, What was really out there and got my hands on everything I could, U.S wise. WHen I strated mask collecting, I wasn\'t sure what was good or not, But I found out just by looking at pictures you can tell what rocks and what is crap. I\'ve owned crap before in my mask collection, but now I got rid of the crap and got all nice masks. or me having one mask ( Hockey Mask and undermask) from each movie is enough. If there nice ones. I wans\'t gonna collect undermasks but a friend told me I should, someone from NIGHTOWL so I started and I have all nice ones or there on order.

My dream one day is to have the biggest Friday the 13th collection in the world, Right now I have the bigegst collection of just Friday that\'ve seen. There\'s plenty of people that have loads of masks and stuff but I mean overall. From what i\'ve seen I have the biggest collection of just Jman, Overall not just masks or what ever people have a lot of. I mean it\'s cool to have a lot of masks but I would rather have masks, posters, rare promo items, tos, books, mucic, autos and so on. It looks badass and you have everything from that movie.

I have put my room in order from 1 to that burned guy vs. Jman. It spends over 3 rooms. Bedroom, bathroom, and computer room. I have spent over 25,000 and i\'m sure it\'s more then that now. I keep buying stuff all the time, I don\'t think i\'ll ever be done. I just spent 304 on my new blood set to replace my crappy one I traded awhile ago.

I would say Jman is my hero and when people come over there like WTF? I love getting that recation out of people that come over. My freinds that collect also, come over and there like WOW!


I enjoy being here with all of my freinds and Justin so that\'s a great reason to be into the hobby. You make awesome friends and meet really cool people that love what you love and collect what you collect. Thanks to me and 2 friends of mine, We got the Friday forum going and now Blake and Brenna put up a Toys, Masks & Collectibles board just for us since we all pushed for it but I think NIGHTOWL is the ebst HC forum and I hope it\'s always here. The people on here really make the hobby what it is, YOU GUYS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup:

So the main reason I collect other then Jman and the fact I love collecting, Is that you guys make it fun, kickass and just a party 24/7 and I want to thank you all for that! :thumbsup:

My collection is in my sig but I often update it when I new mask comes, and i\'ll be posting new pictures once my CB getts here from Mark.

One last thing, I started with books and baseball cards and then when I got older and got into Jman, That\'s when it started, and now I have NO MONEY.........

I\'m very OCD when it comes to setting it up, Everything has to be in order, have it\'s own spot just for that. Everything needs to be neat and clean. Everything is in order of course and nothing ever dosen\'t have a place. Would you say, i\'m obsessed with Jman and his mommy? Your dam right I am!
