I\'m trying to upload videos off my videocamer and i\'m getting this message when I try and upload them to my video editor.

Quote:C:\Documents and Settings\kyle\Desktop\SMOV0027.AVI could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.

Don\'t know what it means but I need to edit these damn videos. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I turned it on automatically and I got this message after I closed and re-opened it.
Quote:The file C:\Documents and Settings\kyle\Desktop\SMOV0027.AVI cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

    Open Movie Maker...click tools--options--click the \'download codecs automatically\' box.

Just did, it gave me the message I just posted above.

What kind of video camera do you have? What the size of the .avi file? (wondering if it\'s too large to transfer to me via AIM)

I use a Samsung handi cam, the files are...

    4.8 MB
    12.2 MB
    33.7 MB

They\'re not very long at all, shouldn\'t take that long.

Give this a try first...I\'m thinking that you\'re missing some required video codecs. Download/install the K-Lite Codec Pack 2.76.
