I've heard Argento's name around, but I've never seen anything by him. Is he old is he new? Would one be into his stuff if they prefered the really good 80's horror movies like Halloween, Hitcher, Omen, Phantasm? and hitchcock? I know he's European. and I know alot of the new guys, and alot of European film makers go real gorey with their stuff, so much so, that you don't really get scared, you just get grossed out. (cough Rob Zombie cough Eli Roth)I want to be scared, not feel sick because I watching something horrible. Don't get me wrong, gore's ok, but useing so much in an attempt to not have a story and suspence dosen't cut it for me. Thanks, and also if anyone knows of some newer stuff that I might not be aware of that's fits my preferences, please inform me. Thanks againAndrew

Argento is a master of horror and suspense. His gore is very styleized much like that of david cronenburg. where its needed he uses it and it works well and not over the top goofy. Tenebre is an amazing film as well as Deep Red. Suspiria is one of his key movies that most people adore. I have a soft spot fo Opera. He is one of the kings of Giallo. The bird with the crystal plumage shows that as well as Tenebre. Demons and Demons 2 are always mentioned but he was the producer, which he had a say in things but it still was a Lamberto Bava film.but tenebe and phenomena are getting rereleased on dvd again in the next week or so if they have not been already they are a definate pick up. And Blue Underground put out suspiria again. Best buy should have alot of the titles. but he is more than worth the time to check out. a true master of horrorMatt

One of the best and purest filmmakers. If you're looking for a great plot and everything to be laid out for you then his work will probably not be for you. Profondo Rosso (Deep Red) is an absolute classic. Suspiria has a weird, trance like effect on me. It's easily in my top 5 favorite films of all time. Inferno is also really good but the end definitely lacks. Just make sure you go with either Anchor Bay's or Blue Underground's releases, most of the other releases are re-edited poorly.

He did very few good things recently and he just finished out the mother trilogy but it has not yet been released here in the US. I would not buy that copy that you posted. Here's two versions that are good to buy.<a href=\"http://www.amazon.com/Phenomena-Fiore-Argento/dp/B00000IBRI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1210734649&sr=1-2\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.amazon.com/Phenomena-Fiore-Arge...4649&sr=1-2</a><a href=\"http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=39882506\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.ht...ductId=39882506</a>

To be perfectly honest, I know that he's a legend and all that, but I just don't get it. I'm a hardcore horror fan like the rest of you and feel I have a really keen eye for cool films. Hell I own like 600 horror dvds..I stopped watching his films with Suspiria and the Opera, which I own both. I just don't find them to be any good. Am I missing something? I guess I got both of them around 7-8 years ago. I wish I saw them as a kid or something.

Argento has to be my favourite italian horror/thriller director his work is awesome and very stylish the way he direct's and his death scene's Profondo Rosso a.k.a Deep Red has to be my all time favourite! its a must see along with Suspiria and Inferno also check out his latest Mother Of Tears which is the last in the Three Mother's trilogy along with Suspiria and Inferno!!I must say tho his earlyer work was much better than his latest work, Argento will be shooting his new film very soon called "Giallo" which means Yellow in italian which nearly all his films are Giallo films which were taken from italian crime books.
