The opening credits, for some stupid reason, aren’t in 3D. These credits are as flat as week-old open soda pop. Someone didn't check the transfer! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/down.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"down.gif\" />

It could be that the source of the 3-D transfer was missing the credit sequence or perhaps unrepairable? They would not switch them unknowkingly since a 3-d transfer and 2-d transfer are easy to tell apart.

From Don May, Jr. at Synapse Films. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> The opening credits were most definitely in 3D every time I saw it. (And the lettering even “pops” out of the screen not to mention the smoke too.)

They didn't transfer it correctly anyway! The original film was shot using a new and different type of 3-D, that required clear polarized type glasses to view it. With this new release of F13 3-D on DVD, they opted to go with the standard red/blue type 3-D, which visually, is nowhere near as appealing as the original was meant to be seen in!!!

Even the Creature of the Black Lagoon was polorized when it came out in the theater but it required 2 projectors running at the same time which had to be aligned and timed correctly for the effect to work. The "red & blue" is a cheaper process that allowed both the left and right side images to be put on one piece of film. Only problem is that RED & BLUE 3D SUCKS!. It's great for pictures but not so much for film. I picked up the F13th 3 - 3D dvd yesterday and it sucks. Some parts don't look too bad, like the scenery (LOL), but overall the 3D doesn't work in the areas you most want it to - the snake strike, the harpoon, the eyeball....And it looks really grainy too.I'm gonna have to break down and get the field sequential version and the machine with the shutter glasses.
