hey guys, this should be pretty easy to explain. I have tons of songs on my old ipod, which is an older style 20gb. its starting to crap out, and I need to know how to get the songs from it to another ipod. is this possible if I dont have any of the songs in my itunes library? (they were all on my OLD computer)Ive heard something along the lines of transfering all your current songs directly to your computer, but to be honest, I have way too many songs for that. it'd take much too long and I dont want to use up that much space on my laptop.anyone have some info? if I were to take my old ipod to a professional could he somehow just transfer the old songs directly to the new one???any helps is appreciated fellas

you could either buy your self a cheap external hard drive which would be the better option in the long run and they are not really that expensive, or transfer them through a usb stick little by little. Hope this helps

I've transferred songs onto my computer from my iPod, manually ripping it. You have to go in the ".iPod_Control" folder then Music, and then copy the files (they should be numbers, F##, like F01, F34, etc.). If that doesn't exactly work.

hey guys, had a new ipod question similar to his one so I figured I'd bring this back up...

quick and simple. I just had to have a new hardrive installed onto my computer. that resulted in losing my itunes library. how can I continue to use my ipod on this computer without losing my songs? I'm afraid that synching up with cause all of my current songs to be deleted.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!
