Got a PM from someone who wanted to see a Profiles in History Remake 2009 Hockey mask replica by me. So the other day I got up early and went from beginning to end on this beast. On with the pics and as always thank you so much for taking the time to check out the photos. The photo below is a quick photo I took with my iphone just to compare the eye shape of the Profiles in History mask against my replica. Eye shape is very important to me and in my opinion can make or break a mask no matter the caliber of weathering. In this photo you also get to compare the nose damage without a glare. Both masks have a satin finish so light bounces off of certain points of the mask depending on the light. This washes out alot of details(especially on the nose)!Next is cropped close ups of the chevrons to compare the movie mask against the replica mask. What shocked me was not the chevrons being dead on or not but the weathering that is all around them. This style of mask consists of sanding various shades repeadedly not just paint by #'s which makes it a real weird mask to master. I knew I was taking into account the shades but not this close. So focus on the surrounding weathering and placement in these photos(it actually shocked me). This photo was just something I did before posting this. I wanted to take one of the photos I took and just kind of roughly clone in the the Profiles in History model picture into my replica. Obviously the angle is not dead on nor the lighting or reflections(especially the light washing out the nose area). I thought it looked kind of cool to go back and forth over and over comparing stuff non the less.Last is a high resolution front shot with indoor lighting. Still cant pick up the sanding look with my camera but you get a little better idea if you blow it up to 100% full size.If you made it this far thank you again for looking and reading my write up. Have a great weekend.
