On NOES remake part 2? I'm guessing it's in the works now based on the success of part 1. Be nice if we could see a different director have a go, with new masks and gloves. I've joined the 'Give Chris Johnson A Chance' group on facebook. Loved his teaser concept, the idea of freddy actually being on fire, and his glove blades being red hot. That would make for some cool replica gloves!

What has the new film made to date? If is hasn't made 3x the 35mil it took to make its not a success.

I think its a success in horror remake franchise films... It was never going to be a blockbuster but in the main, the only reports I've seen that have slammed it, are die hard fans of the original (i'm sure there are some exceptions to that tho). And that's not who this was made for...

If it's not profitable enough, they might not. As of right now, it's made just enough to make a sequel with a budget like the original. Typically, sequels go up in cost so if they made that decision right now, they'd plan on breaking even only or taking a loss.

I'm pretty sure they can also look at how much more moeny they will make when it is release on bluray/dvd not to mention the merchandise that makes them a tidy profit to put on the pile and they will most likely also be looking at any other (original noes) merchandise profits

Why do they have to make 3x the budget in order to break even. I thought anything over 35 million would be profit.

If they make 2x the budget from the first one, they make their money back AND have enough to make a sequel. But then you're just spending the profits and breaking even again until more profits are brought in from the sequel so no true profit actually exists until you quit making sequels... unless the movie grosses more than what you would ever expect to spend on the next sequel. Is New Line willing to go without a true profit until the NOES run is concluded? Time will tell. It's a targeted market film so the success of the film is typically short-lived and long-term profits can sometimes be hard to come up with until you decide to stop putting the money into the series.I'm honestly surprised that NOES hasn't done better at the Box Office. I expected it to blow away F13th but that was not the case on opening weekend. It was bad timing by New Line... putting the film out in spring/summer when the huge-budget, mass-market films come out? Bad idea... NOES should come out more around Halloween, IMO.

Has nothing to do with Box Office sales, it's all in the DVD sales that counts and I know for a fact this movie will be a BIG seller.
