Hey, all!
Earlier today, I was hiking up toward the old dock down on the lake with fishing gear and camera in hand when this creepy old goalie mask caught my eye...There was no one else around, and it looked like this thing had been laying there a while. I took a few photographs, picked it up, dusted it off, and put it in my tackle box for safe keeping. Afterward, I decided to postpone the fishing trip and walk down to the local Crystal Lake campgrounds to see if it belonged to anyone.
When I arrived at the camp, a bunch of energetic young kids were outside playing kickball with their counselor. A few other counselors were sitting at a picnic table nearby having lunch, so I walked over to their table, smiled, and introduced myself. I took out the old, dirty mask and asked if anyone from their camp had lost it. For some reason, their faces immediately turned from happy and helpful to flushed and horrified...After asking what was the matter, they stared me down and demanded that I leave! Surprised but undeterred, I asked if I could drop the mask off with their front office in case any kids come looking for it. At that moment, one rather muscular guy stood up from the table, told me "We don't appreciate your brand of humor here..." and then threatened to make me leave by force!...As I didn't want to make a scene in front of the children, I took the mask and quietly stomped back toward the trail to continue my fishing trip. Can you believe the nerve of those people?! What was their problem?...
...Anyway, here are some photos. Enjoy!:
