I started a thread, specifically, this thread (Click Here), a few weeks ago and leatherfaceIX stated that the one toy he always wanted but never got as a child was this 1979 Kenner alien figure in his post.

Man, did that send me through a fog of nostalgia. I went nuts remembering how much I wanted one of those. for those unfamiliar with the toy, it was quickly produced for kids during the fandom of Kenner's Star Wars toys - despite the fact that Kenner execs were UNAWARE that the Alien film was NOT a kids/family movie. When the toy hit the toy shelves in 1979, mothers were so terrified of the toy, that they demanded stores pull it from their shelves. And pull it, they did. And so started the legacy for one of the most sought-after toys of my generation.

Well, I began to search for this holy grail of mine.

The costs for boxed ones on EBay are in the $500-$1000 range and unboxed complete versions are in the $300 range. I pretty much figured I'd never be in the market.

Well, I came across one without the inner teeth (which, yes, I realize is one of the cooler features), on eBay and figured the rest of it was pretty flawless. I bid and ended up winning it for a mere $65. I'm thrilled at the condition as MOST of these figures around today are usually missing multiple parts - including arms, back tentacles, and the very elusive translucent dome for his head. Mine had all of those parts, save the inner teeth. I figured I'd only display it anyways- and for the cost - I just could not pass it up.

I just love this guy.

What do you guys think?

One of the all time greatest toys! I remember when I got mine a few years ago when they werent is demand as much. Mine had condition issues as well, the rubber band in the arms had rotted away, I replaced it with a new one, I dont think that would hurt the value to much eh?

Yes, those are Keaton gloves, and Yes, that is a West Cowl. I should have assumed you would spot those, puckface, from the mere fractions that are seen in the random pics!

I plan on posting entire updated collection pics in another week or so....

Very cool, man! Makes me wanna break out my 89 bust for some pics! I am in love with the AW costume lately, though. I'd love to have a full size display.

That is truely an awesome find and it's all in one piece(minus the teeth)
Very rare to find one with the dome intact.
You can't imagine how jealous I am.lol
I heard that since it was a toy based on a R rated movie, some parents complained and they had to discontinue it. My parents wouldn't buy me one either!
Big big congrats!
