    first yo u need to make a start up disk...you have one of those?

    ok, well place a blank floppy in your floppy drive, go to windows explorer and select the drive. Right click the drive letter and select format, at the bottom of the next screen is an option to creat a start up disk, select it and make the disk.

    i got a reinstallation cd with xp on it

    got a few other of the preloaded cd software stuff but nothing that say system restore i dont thnk

    it kept telling me when i typed format c:\ bad command or file name

    and the xp cd i got says operating system

    "already installed onthe comp"

    this software is already on your comp
    only use thiw cd to reinstall the OS on a dell comp

    then it says

    this cd is not for reinstallation od programs or drivers.
