Hey guys.
I just recently picked up an iPod, and I was in need of some songs. So I downladed the 7 day trial of Napster, with the intent of paying monthly after the trial ran up. After downloading about 1000 songs from Napster to my music, I tried to copy them across to my iTunes account, and then onto my iPod. But when I clicked \'add file to library\' and tried to transfer the music from my music to iTunes, a pop up appeared that said that the selected song(s) were protected, and cound not be added into my iTunes library. This never happened when I had uploaded and transferred the music from a cd. It asked to convert it from WAV, to ACC, but it worked all the same. I guess what I\'m asking is, is there any possible way to \'unprotect\', or allow the files to be transferred to my iPod?
Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

Though I\'m sure there are plenty of hacks out there for this type of thing, the only way i could see doing it would be to make an audio disc of the files, then rip them back into the computer....though I\'ve heard that protected files can only be ripped in at low rates (probably 128 kbs or somehting). Anyway, I\'m sorry I\'m not much help, but that\'s the only thing I could think of at the moment...

sorry dude but your not going to be able to do that! u ever see that commercial of napster vs itunes. it was something like itunes=$1.00 for eachs song so thats 10,000 dollars for 10,000 songs on ur ipod, but wit napster and the dell jukebox 15 dollars a month for every song u can possibly d/l.

I further looked into this issue, and found out that apple wil not allow downloads from anywhere other than iTunes. There are ways to change the protected wav files to mp3, then burn them to disk, and reupload them. But I\'d rather not spend hours and hours working on that.

yea that would take hours especially since the ipod does not support wav files

Huh? I download everything from Limewire and then import it into ITunes. Never had a problem not being able to pull a song into Itunes.

But that\'s just downloading straight mp3\'s, right? He\'s talking about taking songs from Napster and putting them in iTunes. They don\'t play nice with each other because, well, iTunes wants you to buy from them and Napster wants you to buy from them....all those files are protected. Regular mp3\'s downloaded from anywhere else or created on your own computer will work.

I hate Itunes, this program alows me to upload and download to any computer.
