    I need to vent...
As some of you may know I run a Haunted House on the Military base I\'m stationed at. Well we have a family who worked in it last year. They have a 14 year old boy and a 11 year old girl. Both love Halloween and love to scare people. The whole family really gets into the who production and makes it worth while. Well I was just notified today that some people on base think the girl is to young to be in the Haunt. And because of this she they wont let me have her act in the House. But what gets me is the fact that we let 10 year old kids go through it without parents. But a 11 year old girl who helped build it and understands its all fake can\'t work the house with her Dad?!??!! So I had to notify the Dad of the Change knowing it was going to break the girls heart. So now he pulls out from the Haunt. Saying that if my Daughter cant do it then Im out (Which I totally agree with). So now we have a empty room. Not to mention its the Last room in the House which to me is the most important.

What upsets me the most is the double standards and the lack of timing on this one. This family has spent so much Time and Money for this house. And to be told that one of them cannot participate just bugs the shit out of me. It really ruins the whole Halloween spirit. I\'m thinking about quiting this Haunt because of this unfair treatment. But I don\'t want to put out a crappy production when everyone knows it was my ideas and my sweat that helped make this possible.
What do you guys think of this?

I think that sucks man. Did you tell the people who said she couldn\'t be in it that she knows it\'s fake and everything?

I wish I could... the person that made that call was a General (And honestly he is a good one). And I\'m only a Sergeant. There is now way in F*** I could try and tell him how I feel. I feel like If I pull out too that would be my statement. Man I designed, built and run this attraction with the help of about 2 other people. I feel like this house is my baby. Everyone knows I do this crap and if it sucks because I back out then I\'ve wasted so many hours. But I\'ve already told the people on base "good luck with next year, because after this I\'m done. I\'ll find a House Downtown I can work at!"

Well man, not much you can do if he\'s higher rank. It\'s unfair to the kid but i\'m sure she\'ll understand it\'s not your fault.

    That does suck big time!

I was military for 10 years...how in the hell did that decision make it up to a general? That means nobody below him could have made it, which makes absolutely no sense to me. I guess we differ, I was a sergeant and I spoke my mind to anyone that needed it...it\'s all about how you present yourself.

    Where are you stationed?

I wouldn\'t give up on the house for this year; you gotta finish it off. Even if they are being unfair, you can\'t just quit.

My thoughts exactly! Perhaps there are a lot of people looking forward to your haunt...people on the base who need \'the break\'. However, I still think you should explain your feelings to this Superior...and tell him, because of his actions, this year may be your last...your silence is conceding.

    my 2 cents

Martoch I\'m the kind of Sergeant who speaks his mind also. But there is nothing I can do.
Thanks for all of the input everyone.

I just got back from the house. And I talked some things over with my Haunt Crew. We are changing the Age that a Child must have there parent with them to come in. This would make things more fair. I also found out that this issue started from the top so it never came down to us until now. As F\'d up as it all may seem I\'m going to finish the haunt. My crew told me that they can\'t pull it off without me, and I assured them that I won\'t bail because of one bump in our road. I\'m just going to take our punch and roll with it.
This is just more ammo to scare the living Piss out of anyone who reads our disclaimer and has the balls to step foot into my house!
