Most of you know I'm one of the outstanding clients, some of you know that I actually had the glove from Travis for quite a while, and when he came up with a better way to finish them, a more accurate way, he offered to redo my glove for free. I considered him a good friend at that point and was thrilled to send it back to him. Shortly after that was when he went AWOL. I'm also one of the few who know the real reasons for his disapearance, and everything that lead up to his comeback. All I'll say to people who still doubt, is consider life as a constant changing factor, we don't know what's on the road ahead, sometimes it holds some pretty unfortunate, and terrible things we have no control over. And when these tragedies hit, things like making a replica prop fall to the back burner, I can't imagine there's a person out there reading this who hasn't had some time in their life they can recall where they wouldn't have been able to fill orders in a timely manner. Family comes first, self preservation comes first.
Back to Travis, I've talked with him a couple times on the phone since his comeback, I can honestly say I have ZERO doubt in his promises, and his sincerity in this situation, and I'm golly gee willikers glad to call him a good friend again. If you don't know Travis, he is one of the most sincear, and humble people you could ever meet, always has been, which is part of the reason why his disapearance was so shocking, and hurtful to me before I knew the circumstances. And even as such, I was still as leary as anyone else with his comeback and promises, it's hard to accept after all that time he would still be the same person, and still want to make things right. Again though, after talking with him more about everything, I truely feel I have my old friend back, and as such, the guy who's gonna deliver the glove I've been waiting for. 5 years is a long time for sure, there's no questioning, or denying that, and I'm not saying it's an acceptable practise at all, I'm just saying if you knew all the facts, and understood the 5 year path it's taken for him to get back to this place, you'd know how serious he is about making things right.
Without knowing Travis personally, I know it's hard to accept everything he says, it sounds too good to be true, and after some of the scam artists we've had to deal with over the years, it's easy to jump to the conclusion. How about this, if you don't know him, you all should know me pretty well, I've been a mod here for several years, know MANY of you personally, and if I can be so bold, am fairly respected. I would stake my reputation on Travis, and his sincerity in filling his remaining orders, and coming through on everything he's said he will come through on. I will personally vouch for him, if he fails in what he says he will do, you can all come back to me and blame me for it too.
Wow Travsall. That would persuade even the most skeptical.
Like most of us I was also elated to hear about Travis' return, and that he was making up for his debts. I also contacted him on this very thread, as well as via PM, and he was indeed very courteous and promising. He promised to make me my glove and even noted he bought supplies. But months have gone by, and - nothing. Not even my name on the outstanding customers list in his site. This list is "under construction" for who knows how long. There's a limit to how many times one can check for updates and be disappointed time and again.
I'm afraid this behavior is too familiar. I guess he's thinking, "well these guys have been waiting for 5 years - what's another few months here and there"... I really hope he will eventually make things right as he so enthusiastically expresses.
