I\'ve come across these types of problems before and 90% of the time its the USB compatibility problem. If you have an older PC or a custom built one, it more than likely has USB 1.0 ports. The PSP device and cable is USB 2.0 and therefore it hinders the transfer speed, etc. Upgrading to USB 2.0 is the way to go. You can get a slot w/ 4 ports to go into an empty bay if you have one. It\'s as simple as opening up your PC case and plugging in the power adapter so that it reads from the USB drive bay.
Check to see if it even recognizes the PSP by right clicking MY COMPUTER, then go to MANAGE, click DEVICE MANAGER, and look for an "!" next to your USB device. You can troubleshoot from there.
