"They will have all the money they need and the tools to tell the story and entertain the audience in an overall fashion, but it\'s not something that we said we need to go out and get Ashton Kutcher to star in to get the audience to come and see it."

My source is the link two posts above. I think its safe to say the Ashton Kutcher rumor is just that.

I said they were decent because they were. I agree the original Ammityville blows the remake away. But the same exact thing with the original TCM and the remake. The Ammityville horror was a decent remake, and came at a good time when all these phenomina shitty ghost movies are being made. It had the story and the visuals were actually decent and weren\'t way over done like in the others. I know it sucked that Jodie wasn\'t the 6 foot tall pig but whatever it was all a hoax anyways.

Quote:Dude...are you fucking kidding me?  The Amityville Horror remake was the most god damned awful thing I had ever seen!  They ripped that movie apart!  Turning Jodie (who in the book appeared as a 6 foot tall MALE PIG) into a scary (or lack of) little ghost girl.  Such bullshit.  Every "horror" movie these days has some stupid little "ghost girl" or "scary girl" with cheesy one liners.  It\'s ridiculous.  And anyone who thinks that movie was even remotely decent should go back through their entire catalog of classic and cult horror films.  YUCK!!!  I could go on forever about that POS but I\'ll spare you guys of my useless rambling.  But if you think ti was good....

However, the TCM remake was decent.  Better than I expected, especially after hearing so many negative things about it.  R. Lee Ermy made the movie what it was.

I guess thats where I disagree. The only good thing about it was Ryan Reynolds. I honestly thought he\'d be terrible, but he was A+ to me and my friends once we checked it out. The rest of it not only disappointed me, but obviously pissed me off still to this day. But mainly because I dont believe it was a hoax at all. Then again I am a sucker for ghost stories and supernatural occurances. So you may have thought it was decent in a fictional sense, which I can see. However, it blew from a non-fictional standpoint. I just heard so much about how it was going to be just like the book, and I got so excited.....then WHAM! Watching it was a slap in the face. I just expected so much out of it and put too much faith in it. I guess in a sense, I set myself up for it.

I can understand that then. I went in there thinking it was going to totally suck balls, and it didn\'t to me. I\'m a big fan of the supernatural and stuff also. I just don\'t look at this at totally true with so many people speaking against them. I would like to hope it was true because it is one of the most entertaning haunting stories to this day.

Exactly! A couple of years ago our band was on tour and played a show in Amityville, so of course we went to see the house. It was amazing getting to check out something I had always wanted to see in person. That especially got me worked up into researching the story more. I dont understand why they would abandon their new luxurious home after 28 days leaving everything behind. Sure some people say they were too far in debt after buying the house and used the haunting as an excuse, but is it worth giving up everything? I mean...if it were a hoax and people didnt buy into the story, they would\'ve been mega f\'d! and as far as I\'ve learned, the Lutz\'s never really made any kind of royalties off the books or movies. Anyway, to keep from derailing this thread...Evil Dead remake can lick my balls....along with The Fog. The Exorcism of Emily Rose on the other hand....that was a great movie! Smile

    IMDB says:
    Quote:Status: Announced
Comments: Before the script is written, Raimi and Co. are on the hunt for a new director
    Status Updated: 18 November 2004
Note: Since this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change; some data could be removed completely.

IMDB goes by what people tell them meaning the whole kutcher thing was probally just a rumor. If he is in it, oh well, give him a chance I guess. He\'s a good actor, he just had some bad roles.

    Ted Raimi, two days ago:

Sam Raimi\'s brother Ted recently spoke with Mars Dust about his upcoming work and of course the topic of "Evil Dead" and the talked about proposed remake came up. When asked about it, his response proved surprising:

"Yes, I have this to say about it: There won\'t be one as far as I know. That\'s all I know. I mean there might be, there might be one but as far as I can tell, right now there isn\'t going to be. Nothing\'s going on with it at the moment".

Sam Raimi\'s Ghost House Pictures had previously announced their intention to produce a remake of the classic 80\'s horror flick.
