I know this is an old topic, but with the movie 2012 comming out i figured i'd bring this back up. I think its all a load of crap, people are just trying to scare people and make money off this...have your guys opinons changed over the last 2 years?

im sorry, but they have been saying the world is going to end, you know what, everyone has their opinions, but, the world isnt going to end in 2012, big deal, the maya calender ends in 2012, that doesnt mean anything, Z

If you think about it, it really is kinda weird or strange how the Mayans knew certain things and to the extent that they knew them to be. The Mayans, AGES before telescopes were even thought of, knew exactly how many planets there were. They knew the exact size of all the planets. They even knew the exact colors of each planet and not just vague descriptions of what color it might closest represent, but the actual dead on color. They also knew that the ninth planet had a much MUCH larger mass, than Pluto shows from the pictures taken with one of the many high powered infrared telescopes. Things, like the above, are kinda weird when taken into careful consideration. Not that I really even think something is going to happen, but all the info makes for some interesting questions and thoughts!....

Guys...the Mayans didn't predict any kind of appocalypse or end of the world scenerio for Dec. 21st 2012, that just happens to be when that 26,000 year cycle ends. People drew their own conclusions regarding why the calendar ends in 2012 and assume that since the Mayans didn't make another one that it must mean they were predicting the end of the world. Also, the Mayans did NOT know the exact size, mass and color of all the planets, they did however know that there were 9 of them which wasn't discovered again until the early 1900s.-Joseph
