Hey guys, can anyone point me towards a good armature to sculpture masks on. I know Monster Makers, but I remember hearing some time ago that their's isn't that good. Thanks!

You could always get your head lifecasted, and use that as a sculpting bust. Who told you the MM armatures arent that good? They are great! Keep a great base for sculpting on! Or, Jon Fuller was selling some great armatures! Contact him about it....

Getting your head lifecasted isn\'t very practical LOL..Here\'s what i\'m doing for a current sculpture. I took a wig head, a threaded pipe connected to a flange. I drilled the flange down to a wooden board and the board rests on a lazy susan that I got at a home store. Pretty versatle as you don\'t have to follow the pattern of an amature as much.I think the MM armature is fine. The neck is a tad short but some people have long necks, and some have short..the one lifecasted for their bust obviously had a short neck.

The MM armature is great, just cut off the nose and ears. Makes it A LOT easier to sculpture.

Now they are plastic Kyle, so thats not as easy to do. Your right though, on these foam ones, cutting off the nose and ears works soooo nicely! Hell, maybe even deepen the eye sockets.

I thought they were still foam. All I know about them is it's hard to get your sculpts straight on the new ones.
