I'm also sorry for flying off the handle today. I just felt that it was the only way I could get this situation resolved....I'm a hothead what can I say lolAs for the rest of this...if you guys want to complain about Mike and find out info on what is being done, go check out the blog. Nothing else we can do here...if someone posts Mike in a different thread..I'll just delete their post and refer them to the blog...Problem solved...Maybe the blog method can be used for future problems with other members. It keeps the forum friendly and clean while still deals with the problem

Glad you cleared your name Dan. I only hope he takes my name off the list as well. We can debate the necessity of the classifieds here all day and personally, I see both sides of it. Justin has been nice enough to let people post their stuff here and unfortunately people have taken advantage of that in the past.I see Larry's point about voicing concerns here as, in most cases when this happens, others share the same concerns and it's good to know you're not alone when you feel like you've bee ripped off. If we allow people to sell, we should allow (to a degree) people to be warned or to be on the lookout for those who might scam you...at least in my opinion.But you can see how this gets tricky as the seller might want to clear his name and we end up spending time, energy, and bandwidth on situations unrelated to Nightowl or just plain horror fun. So how to do this constructively? Not sure... Maybe we have a pinned list of those who are under suspicion along with a list of those who feel "wronged" by that member and why? That way it's only one thread to police and not dozens that pop up all the time. Any thoughts?

Larry, if you get screwed on ebay who do you go to? That person, then paypal, your credit card company, who ever you can. Same deal here, we are NOT responsible for Mike, or anyone selling stuff on here, it's a privilidge to allow it, but it ends there. The deal is between you and the maker ONLY. We'll help if it's a member to memeber transaction that's gone badly, try to get an amicable resolution, but in terms of a maker like Mike, what the hell are we gonna do? Send him a PM in the stack he doesn't respond to anyways? We don't ask people to come here and sell their stuff, bottom line, Justin's a damn nice guy, and he allows it, if tomorrow he changed his mind and said no more, that'd be it. How's it fair here on the NIGHOWL board, we get stuck shoveling up Mike's shit he's left everywhere? Or anyone esles for that matter.

I'm not trying to sound like a dick about the classifieds. I don't mean to say, "Tough shit". They are an addition to the site that does not have to be there, but is there because Justin felt like they could be a benefit to the members. We do have the warnings there for a reason, though. Is it ok to post if some dude sends you something you didn't order or never even sends it? To a degree. See the post currently up about the Sawguy that was torn up. We left that up because the member who sold it needs to be seen as a scammer. It's a thin line with maskmakers, though. Most makers have their own site you can complain about their service on, it doesn't belong on NIGHTOWL. Does that mean you can't complain here? Not exactly. It can't get out of hand and warnings about bad deals are ok, but when we see a the same complaints day after day, it makes NO look bad also.The classifieds are not for everyone. No one HAS to use them. There is a risk in them and that's the way it is. That's why we have the rules pinned...the warnings are there.

If someone comes to me asking for help..I'll give them help..simple as that. You're right, it's nice to know if others got screwed as well....so just gather the people in a civilized manner and organize things. No need for 10 bashing threads..it solves nothing

Make a list of all known scammers on the board and makers who owe people stuff and are still waiting, that way if and when they send out their stuff, their name will be cleared. Make it a buyer beware topic and lock it to avoid flaming and when someone gets their stuff they can PM a mod to update the topic.
