I just meant that when they receive your 360 and they look at the usage (which I can almost gaurantee they do) they then decide whether to FULLY replace your 360 (brand new like in my case because I had barely used it) OR they just decide to refurbish your old one. In both scenarios the customer still pays nothing because the product was still defective. When I shipped mine, I was asked to take off the face plate so it wouldn't get damaged in shipping and so I would still have it for when my originally bought XBOX360ELITE was returned from being refurbished. I believe based on the fact that because I barely used mine before it's RROD melt down, they decided to just send me a brand new one, rather then refurbish my old one! When I received the package back a week and a half later, inside was a brand new XBOX360ELITE! It had that sticky plastic on it again, the brand new smell again, there was a face plate on it (so now I have two ELITE face plates), no scratches and sleek black again, all with an entirely different product/serial number and bar code number. The letter they sent too was saying that with some customers, they just decide to fully replace your XBOX rather than refurbish it!....

lol i have like 3 faceplates because i sent it off 3 times, i always before i ship mine off i get a sharpie and make a little dot on the top left to see if i get my same 360 back and it is always new.

There's three conditions: #1 if it's the straight solder repair on the power supply and replacement of the internal power supply cords, you get your box back. #2 If there's additional damage; melting/burning of adjacent equipment in there, it sometimes becomes cheaper to replace the box entirely#3 Especially if you have an early box rather than a later box. The equipment has changed since release, and so have some of the mounting brackets. The new equipment isn't the same stuff the box started with. It's far easier to salvage some of the working stuff, and pull a new box off the shelf, and chuck your system than it is to either pull out all the guts and try and replace parts that simply aren't made anymore and try to make it work.
