Posted today:<!--quoteo<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE
<div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotec"A Nightmare on Elm Street" led the weekend with a $32.2 million debut. Fright films typically drop steeply in their second weekends, since hardcore horror fans rush out to see them in the first few days. But the remake already is headed toward a solid profit after an opening weekend that roughly matched its modest production budget of just over $30 million.<!--QuoteEnd
<!--QuoteEEnd

I can't remember everything right now but the whole movie felt like I was being jerked off with no hope of release, and then there were these really long pauses where I just lost my interest and went limp. Every phrase of anger or vulgarity is explicitly meant for all those involved in the writing, directing, casting and production of this film. Spoilers<!--coloro:#4B0082<!--/coloroI have many thoughts, but I will try to run through them real quick and then as stinky poopy comes to me I will do my best to add to it. I have a stinky poopo memory so bear with me. We love Nancy, and the fact that they missed the marks with that character is the heart of the failure of this film. You Fudges! You turned Nancy into a girl! Not only that, but she has no balls! This is the biggest fudge up of this whole thing right here. Nancy. Granted every other aspect of the film fails as well, but imho thats the main one. Here is why: 1. The absence of Nancys hero arc consisting of the struggles with her mother, father, murdered boyfriend, school troubles, ext, ext. The fact that Freddy molested her is strong motivation and would have been something to add to the film to top the original. But without the other villians such as her mother and father putting her in harms way, like boarding up her house so she can't leave and removing her starbucks from her room and so on, you never get the feeling that the character is truly in over her head and confronting something awful not only on her own but with the added dangers from those less knowledgeable about the whole situation. How could you buttholes miss this! 2. Nancy using Adrenaline instead of internal drive to dest<!--coloro:#4B0082<!--/colororoy freddy. Seriously? Due to the fact that she has no struggle to overcome to strengthen herself throughout the film other than freddys presence which by the way does not separate her from any other elm street victims, we don't care about her! If we don't care about the hero, then we don't care about the film! Tell me if you had heard that her strength came from a siring before the films release you would not have been pissed. 3. Nancy having help killing freddy in the form of her wounded new guy she might eventually date and never losing her actual boyfriend. Super cussing lame. 4. Nancy telling her mom to stop lying. The first Nancy threw liquor bottles, and swore as she began to break down due to lack of sleep and serious danger, this one cries and calls her mom a lier but she does repeat herself a couple of times...Other things that just bothered me:The first thing I noticed about this film was that the intro where freddy is making the glove is missing. I felt if your going to pay homage to any scene of the original this would be the one. Didn't you guys miss this? The second thing is that if I were to decide to direct a remake of a classic film, I would only do so if it was to improve on the original in some way other than special effects. The only improvement that I saw was Kruegers motivation. The backstory stuff was cool to. The Freddy coming out of the wall scene was a fail. It looked like 1989 and a part of the abyss had been spliced in or something. The "tina" bedroom scene was way to short. One slice of the glove? what happened to being drug around the room. It should have been taken way way further than the original in every sense. This was an opportunity to shine. You knew you were going to do the scene, but you missed all the parts that made the first scene such a horror classic. The boring parts were way to long, ie the final fight dream preparation scene where everyone is sleepy for way to long, and the ending was so rushed you didn't know what happened. Every scene either left me wanting more or wanting it to end. It was not well written and although some of the dream sequences that were intertwined with reality were special, the overall film had no direction. Even hinting that freddy was innocent was wrong. The scene they told the father that freddy was an innocent man and they were just kids and what not was a drag. He should have set it straight right then and told them something of significance. Something like, "I saw photos of what he did to you and so on and so forth. This was a dramatic character building opportunity that was completely missed. I know the internet is a part of all of our lives, but can we leave out these huge revelations that are just stumbled upon through conicidence out of horror for a bit.when freddy says he has 6 minutes with a victim, I thought it was the most exciting part of the film, I thought nice, we are about to see freddy get real nasty, nope.....CUT. Cussholes. And finally, the makeup and Jackie, still don't care much for the makeup, and really thought that Jackies voice and delivery were off but he really didn't have much to work with here. I thought that most of the lines were to slow and his one foot stepping looked awkward, but that could just be me. If I could chose a character that a remake freddy would be based on it would be ledgers joker. High energy, Manical, and insane, or the complete opposite and do a freddy that barely says a word and truly take him back to his roots. Not Jackies fault I don't think as the dialogue was just bad. The dead dog, "I was just petting him." What? How about he doesn't say anything, we know what happened, if anything have him pick the dog up and throw it at her, or cut an ear of and whisper to it and say "stay." which would have been a nice homage to part 6 (which sucked) and would have showed a bit of dark humor. Do Something that says this freddy is nasty and truly evil. The only time I really got that was when he was on top of Nancy, but as she is now an adult, it really wasn't as horrific as it would have been if she were a child. The photos that we never saw spoke more about the demonic nature of freddy more than anything else we saw on screen, and that is the point. Nightmare has to be in the top 5 of my all time favorite horror movies, and with no hero character, and in every aspect falling short of the original, I have to say that this one is at the bottom of my list right there with the Crow 2 city of angels. Finally, Jackie.<!--colorc<!--/colorc<!--colorc<!--/colorc

Jackie did a great great job as expected... It was nice to see a darker Freddy again. Thought it was well done and I give it 8 out of 10. I wonder what Robert Englund thinks of this remake?

I watched it a second time, and now have a much nicer opinion about the film. Definitely worth a second viewing to shape your opinion.
