+1 on the in-home extended service plan. There's no way you want to drag these big boys back to the store for service.

Say what's you want about burn in not being an issue anymore but leave a game paused for a good half hour to an hour and you'll see ghost images of that on the screen.
I guess it depends on the Plasma in that case. I have left video games paused for over 4 hours before and forgot about it and not an ounce of burn-in appeared.

But yes... ALWAYS get the extended warranty on these things. You might just need it. They are so much more complicated and have so many more parts to them... something could go wrong and it is PRICEY when it does.

I did my research before I went for the plunge...lol. I bought a 52" Flatscreen LCD Samsung TV. I went with LCD and never looked back. My TV is amazing and I use it every day and I am a keen video gamer too. I was put off plasma because they are more expensive to buy, more expensive to run (higher utility bills) and plasma TVs get hot and give off quite a bit of heat, but my main concern was that screen burn so I went with LCD. I found out that if I leave my TV turned on for 8 hours a day every day that it should last 20 YEARS! LOL. That was it, I was sold! Good luck with your decision.
