Dark Sky Films dropped a little late-day news on us with the announcement of Hatchet 3, based on the success of Hatchet 2's VOD and DVD release.

At this time, cast and crew details (including director) are being worked out.

Hatchet creator Adam Green, however, reiterates: "We already had a possible storyline for Hatchet 3 worked out before we began shooting Hatchet 2, so my cast, crew and I are beyond excited to see that the story and legacy of Victor Crowley will indeed continue. For a little indie movie that I dreamt up when I was just eight years old, it has been absolutely surreal to watch it turn into a modern-day slasher franchise."

Hatchet 3 will continue the saga of Crowley, the "Bayou Butcher," who first made his gruesome mark in 2007's Hatchet.

Hatchet 3 will continue where the story left off in Hatchet 2, as a young woman sought revenge on the malevolent monster that killed her family while they were fishing in Louisiana swamp country.

The threequel is being produced by ArieScope's Cory Neal, producer of the previous two hits.

I heard it was going to be called Hatchet III : Return of The Tird

The first one has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen...and I've seen Halloween H20!
Apart from the kills, most of which came directly from the cutting room floor of the Friday series - it
was the biggest DVD purchase mistake of 2006.

I haven't even seen Hatchet II: The tird strikes back, I heard it was worst than the first!

I liked the first one but thought the second one was horrible, so you REALLY wouldn't like it. LOL

Thank god! Put Kane Hodder as a killer in a mask and a million fans go bananas. The second one, however, did look appeasing and I would like to see it.

wow....hatchet was a pretty cheesy movie, I admit, but you are comparing it to Halloween h20 of all movies? at least pick a crappy sequel like resurrection, but h20??

I thought Hatchet 2 was better than the first! Less... over the top pornographic, and had some good humor in it. Cheesy? Yeah... that's kinda the point.

With that said, I STRONGLY disliked the first one.

A third installment could be cool. We'll just have to wait and see.
