Hey guys!
Big Grin

We picked up 20 styrofoam heads from our local Party City (great store for Halloween goodies) for $2 a head, but we\'re not sure how to paint them up to look all creepy. Airbrushing is out of the question, so what do you suggest we use? I\'m assuming that some paints will probably eat away at the styrofoam? Please help...we\'ll take any suggestions/recommendations from you guys.

Thanks in advance,
~Mike

Yeah a lot of paints eat into styrofoam, stay away from celulose based paints, acrylics are ok, how about adding latex and tissue to some of them, make a nice rotting effect, throw some sand into the latex to get a gritty texture, works great, there are spray cans of acrylic paints around, you just got to find them,

Thanks, Frosty...we do have access to liquid latex if that\'s what you\'re referring to. However, we have very little experience with it except for when adding it to our skin to create a scarred look. Can we just mix normal beach sand (we live next to the beach here in FL) with the liquid latex? Sorry for the seemingly dumb questions, but I\'d rather ask before I screw it up.

Hmmm...spray acrylic...I\'ve never seen it, but I\'ll definitely call around to see if we can get some.

Yes any sand should do, just add it bit by bit tillyou get a gritty texture, you can just slop it on over cotton balls tissue etc, spray hair color could work as well, never tried it though

i made a styro foam sledge hammer head and you first have to paint it with latex based house paint sorta like acts as a primer and it will not eat it like alot of the glues but white elmers glue is goo and then use acryllic and even sparay piants

www.fxwarehouse.com is in Florida....
They have latex.
Or you can go old school and mix up some paper mache.
Here are some recipes: paper mache
