Chroming A Hockey Mask

Im not sure if you would even call that plating..lol. But yeah its kinda like a powder coat plastic thats shiny. Even though powder coat is electronically charged to metal as well. Not sure how they do the plastic.

They do use electro plating to do it. They basically do the same thing as they do with metal, it\'s just a different bath of chemicals.

I used to have some of those 8-hole hockey masks from WalMart that were "chrome" plated. The process for plating palstic is called Vacuum Metalising. It works in a couple of stages where a base coat lacquer is applied to the plastic and baked on (but not hot enough to melt the plastic), hit with aluminum "dust" and then a top coat lacquer is applied. But I agree with Adam that a great job can be done with chrome spray as well. There\'s also a Rub-n-Buff type chrome paint, but I\'m not sure how it works on plastic.

id just try some chomre spray paint like adam said, and then glossing the hell out of it or something

I\'m thinking of purchasing a frightstuff blank hockey mask and seeing if I could get the thing chromed.

I want to achieve the Jman GOES TO HELL POSTER highly polished effect.

Anyone attempted or sucessfully produced one?

Would the plastic melt during the chroming process?

Suggestions anyone!

It is Vacuum plating, I have a plater here next to my shop, I think 25.00 for a mask I am not sure I will ask, I have had most of my props like rubber knives plated the problem with 2 part plastics is the oils in the resins, so I would not recommend fiberglass. The mask you buy from me will plate just fine via vacuum plating the surface has to be super smooth or it will look like Sh*t
