I'm considering getting my self a Vader costume. I'm looking for good sites to look at and am having some trouble. can anyone recommend a good site to join and get some advice from. Also does anyone know if it's better to buy a whole suit of piece by piece?

Thanks,Hector

I've built a few SW suits, and to me, i always try to pick up parts, that way things can be sized and fitted to me, + the cost of having pieces finished in a complete suit can add to the costs greatly.

Check out the RPF (they usually only do registration certain times a year),
the dented helmet, boba forums but still tons of members that can point you out to good vader resources,
and it's been so long, i can't remember the vader forum and a couple others that are great places to start. i'm sure someone else will chime in with some info.

good luck

I was gonna say the RPF too . Ask Travis about it as I know he's worked on some Star Wars helmets and built a couple suits also . He should be able to point you in the right direction for what you're needing . And yeah , buying parts is alot easier than the full outfit all at once .

RPF is a good start.

A lot of people are getting the Rublies supreme costume for the "Leather" parts, and getting better chest boxes and helmets.

I buuilt one years ago, and it was pretty costly, if you want it spot on!

Yep, the RPF is your first stop for a TN of info, and from there, there's a few boards and sites that deal specifically with Vader costumes. The best thing to do is first figure out a budget, do research and figure out what version of the suit, how accurate you wanna get, if you wanna buy all finished pieces, or pieces you have to do the work on, and ultimately how much you're willing to spend to get it. A really good first step into a suit I think is the helmet, it's the piece most people identify with the most, and something you can display in the mean time and keep yourself interested. Generally too, if you want a real accurate suit, it'll have to be piece by piece, unless you find someone selling a complete suit. Piece by piece, depending, you can sometimes save some money aswell. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask anything here, or on the RPF.

If you want perfection & accuracy it will cost you a small fortune.
You can cut the costs down quite a bit if you try and do as much of the work as you can yourself.

I am currently putting together a lifesize Darth Maul & Yoda & these projects are really starting to add up.

Check the junkyard on the RPF & see if anyone is letting go of their Vader costume as you may get a great deal.

I had picked up one off Ebay a while back. Kinda like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Supreme-Darth-Vader-Star-Wars-Costume-fx-lightsaber-/300490159342?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f69bf4ee
FIt nice, looked good IMO. Not sure how it compared to the professional versions but worked for my needs!

I started working on these last night. I'm just using them as a reference to print out once I start sculpting.
