all my friends...when ever they see me talking to you guys on here and mm.net....they always say...."are ya talkin to your latex buddys?" lol

My parents at first were like.....UGH, another mask?
But after all the masks ive went through, they now know that what I pay for is the right price since they know what kind of work and detail and time goes into every single mask that id buy.....otherwise I wouldnt buy.

    Thats me lol

You\'re lucky, at least people understand why you collect.
I try and explain about all the time that goes into them. Their response?
"So what? It\'s just a piece of rubber."

    what does my family think....wellll....

when i first started in this hobby, when i was about 15, i was just making alot of it myself, since this was before the boom we call the internet. Please keep in mind that i am 30 years old...so that was 15 years ago..we are talking 1990. My parents thought it was bullshit, and my peers thought i was absolutely nuts. As i got older, and after finding out there were other like minded people out there, the stuff i got was better quality. My mom took notice first...and then my father. They both like the stuff, but could not understand why it cost so much...and why i wanted them so bad. Flash forward to now, all those years later...and my parents love all of it. It is partially due to the fact of everything i have been through with my family and whatnot...and they know this is a safe haven for me. Something I really enjoy....so they support it 100%. I do hear alot that half the stuff i have i could have done myself...but that is just my parents bias of thinking i am very talented artistically. Mom has actually opened boxes of mine before i got home...and taped them back up...i just found this out recently...cuz she was excited to see what i got. She asked if i was mad for her doing it...i told her no...but to be careful, cuz there was no telling what i may have coming to the house. She just might end up opening a box full of sex toys or porn or something...i think i embarrassed her a little with that one. Finally, there is my fiance, who thinks its the greatest thing in the world. She talks about my stuff to her friends, her coworkers and her family....so they all think i am a fucking fruit. Then they meet me and they realize they were correct in assuming it. She supports me 110%. Hell she has bought me some of the stuff i have now. Every time she comes over, she heads straight to the bedroom to see if i have anything new. 99% of the time, she knows exactly what movie it is from and what character it is....the only ones she doesnt know are the myers masks...but then again i only have one...well thats my story...it was great to read all of yours

    Thanks,
    Tommy

My family also supports my hobby. I think sometimes my older brother gets more excited than I do. My mom got me started on horror at a young age so she\'s always curious to see what I get. All of them understand that these aren\'t low quality so they never ask me why I spent that much on a mask. My 2 nephews both love to look at my masks and one of them knows all the names and the themes to F13th and Halloween.

when I lived at home my family really liked the masks..my nieces and nephews used to go in there and they could strare at them for hours if I didn\'t tell them to get the hell out..my cousins kid\'s loved them even more, they are a little older..my cousin\'s were the ones that got me watching all the movies when they saw them they nearly shit. my mother would bring anybody and everybody who came into the house in my bedroom to show them the masks. that kind of sucked because most of the time my room was a mess.. at that point I had to say \"could you please keep people out of my fucking room!?!?!\" then my father got drunk and hit me in the face with a socket wrench and I moved out.

My parents are kinda like, "theres better things to spend money on." My dad made a comment earlier about me selling my masks. And he always makes a comment whenever he sees me on the Myers/NO forums. "You still looking at mask stuff?"is what I usually get. I guess he thought it would stop when Halloween was over. Thinking asking for money for my birthday (Dec. 5th) and getting a Psycho. My younger brother is into it too though he actually bought our first horror prop, a Freddy glove off ebay 3 years ago. He is always opinionated in what I should get. And always comes home from school asking is it in yet? Most of my stuff is in his room too. My friends don\'t really seem to care now. When i first started collecting they would ask "so why you buying all these masks" but don\'t get it too much any more. The way I see it I could always liquidate the stuff i have, but right now I\'m having fun collecting and plan on doing it till I go broke and need money or get tired with my stuff.

Back when i was a kid i got into masks and mask making, now i do have the odd piece dotted around the place but mostly just a bunch of moulds in the yard, my girlfriend likes the stuff i do as do my kids, not got any family really, both parents are gone, but when they were alive they just used to shake there heads, my mum bought me my first mask way back when , a crappy werewolf mask, i used to stare at that thing thinking how cool it was, when nephews come around they always check out what i am making, and i am a popular guy around Halloween.
