I know this probably depends on the type of latex used (I use mask latex from Douglas and Sturgis myself), I was wondering what a good rule of thumb for latex shrinkage is.

Lets say I want to make a mask that will fit an average 24" head size. Assuming I am going to make a latex master and mold a one piece from it, how big should my sculpture be to be safe?

Your finished piece then will be about 30% smaller than your sculpture. Latex shrinks about 15%, so your master will be about 15% smaller than your sculpture, and then the production pull will be about 15% smaller than your master.

Well not neccesarily H1, but myers nonetheless (thats just what the world needs right, another myers). It will be my first myers sculpture, so I\'m setting my expectations low. Big Grin

Also keep in mind that the thicker you pour the mask, the more it will shrink down. Strange but true
