Platinum Dunes could give less than a fuck about the movies it remakes. It's money. Thats what they care about.<!--QuoteEnd
<!--QuoteEEndAll movies, original or otherwise, are made so someone can make a buck. If that matters so much, avoid all forms of media.I enjoy 'em.. I like seeing my favorite characters again doing new things (or even repeated things). I think it's great that Jason will be scary again. It's breathing a nice breath of fresh air into the series.I enjoyed the Halloween remake. I've never been a huge myers fan, but the remake helped a little. TCM was alright.. I'll never consider it a replacement for anything, but I did get enjoyment from watching it.So what.. you know? I'm looking forward to seeing Jason again, if I wanted to see something truly "new" I'd go see something else.. I've had the oppourtunity to see lots of films that weren't Jason flicks throughout my years on the planet.. but I wanna see Jason again, and it's nice to have the oppourtunity to see him with everyone else. I'm a fan of Jason, and that's what brings me to the table here.. I can't imagine liking Jason, and absolutely hating the film. Of course that's easy for us Jason fans, considering how bad the continuity between sequels is anyways. I'll be pretty pleased when theres no magical dagger required, and no reverting back to a child, or being deathly afraid of water... I was able to overlook those points and enjoy the films overall because I've always liked the character. The birds? not my thing, but I might check it out if reviews are good.. just like any other film that I'm on the fence about.Bring on the new.. update the films, bring them into today.. it's a lot of fun. If I ever need a trip down memory lane, my DVD collection still includes all the originals. They haven't done anythng to those.. they're still there for you if you miss them. It's just like a huge "What-if" scenario.. take it or leave it.. but complain? that's kinda' silly.Where's Holywood's imagination? where's yours? They can imagine a different Jason, and also Wall-E, so why not go check THAT out if yer dyin' for something new. There's ALWAYS something different out there.. I just happen to like seeing Jason films, so I'm glad there's another one coming.

I think some remakes can just be used as sequals. But I think some movies should be remade if the script is good and they use the main stuff from the original movie.

Sometimes movies are remade to re-up the copyright. That's why they remade Night of the Living Dead in the early '90s.

The majority of remakes I've seen have definitely been inferior to the original, but I have liked some of them. I normally don't get pissed off about remakes, but the one that does make my blood boil is the upcoming remake of The Crow. Considering the circumstances surrounding Brandon Lee's death, this is completely disrespectful IMO. This is one remake I will never see.

Yes, I REALLY think it should stop. It's like they're remaking absolutely anything nowadays. I got fed up with this shit after the new Dawn of the dead and haven't bothered to see any new remakes since that one. And for the most part it seems like some directors are intentionally trying to make them worse than the original. Like House of wax. The original had Vincent Price, one of the best actors ever lived while the remake had Paris Hilton, the dumbest bimbos ever lived.Though at least the original was a old movie, from the 50's while most of the upcoming remakes are of movies from the 70's and 80's and I think it's way to soon to remake movies from that time. At least wait another 15-20 years or so. When they decided to remake Friday the 13th, that's when I got really mad.I wish more filmmakers would go the Hatchet route and instead of remaking a movie, they can borrow elements from it and it's genre and try to create an more original film.

It was announced the other day that Warner Bros. are remaking The Dark Knight (they're aiming for a summer 2010 release)!

I don't mind remakes for the most part and I actually have enjoyed most of them but as I said in a similar thread on MM.net I feel a movie should be at least 30 years old before it's remade.

One good thing about remakes is that it will keep bringing in new people to this hobby regardless if it sucks or not. People tend to want to watch the originals after seeing a remake and they might end up getting into it more and more. Which inturn keeps interest in this hobby fresh everyone starts from watching that one movie, and before you know it thay have a room full of masks and props. My opinion on remakes they will never be a good as originals to the people who where around for those. I know for a fact that people will see the anoes remake not knowing who the hell Freddy is, its weird huh but its true.

I thought House Of Wax was good- it can not compare to the original, but it was a 80's style slasher film, which I dug a lot. And regarding Paris Hilton, she was not even close to a lead in the movie so who cares? Why even try and compare Price to her? You can't like every single actor in a movie!
