    Mucinex should help if your chest is filled up and making you cough. Mucinex works to help thin out the mucus and make it easier to cough up which will take stress off your chest. If you actually have asthma, a chest cold can worsen symptoms of asthma... at least it does for me. Sounds like you could still benefit from an asthma inhaler like Ventolin or Symbicort though.
