The ones at the costume shops are made of latex, inferior for prosthetic use because of its rigidity compared to foam latex gelatin or silicone. Also latex is hollow and foam latex is not, as in the foam latex appliance would be solid and have a negative imprint of your features on the inside so it will fit you perfectly.
