Have you tried to connect it directly via ethernet cable? My PS3 has issues with the wireless as well.

Try this:1. On the XMB go to Network Settings2. Next go to Internet Connection Settings3. Choose Wireless4. Choose Enter Manually in WLAN Settings5. Enter your SSID (your wireless network name)If you have internet security, enter it after this.6. Under Address Settings, choose Custom7. Under IP Address Settings, choose Manual8. Input your information (exactly as shown):IP Address: 192.168.0.105 (enter your own IP)Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0Default Router: 192.168.0.1 (if you know your router already, use that number)Primary DNS: 4.2.2.2 (it is important that you use these numbers)Secondary DNS: 4.2.2.39. Continue on to MTU and choose Automatic10. Continue on to Proxy Server and choose Do Not Use11. Continue on to UPnP and choose Enabled12. Click X to save your settings13. Test your connection and see if this helped or not

On your PC, view your "network places" or network or whatever. Your router should be listed there. Click on it and it should open a internet window and you'll have to sign into it (should be whatever username and password you use for your secure wireless connection. When you get signed in there should be a update firmware tab or something like that.

It should have a file you can download to your computer, you then login to your router on your pc and there should be an option for you to upload the new firmware to your router.
