I went to see it yesterday afternoon. Despite the fact that the rest of the audience seemed pleased, I was disappointed. I could care less if it's a remake or not, but as an individual movie, I did not care for it and have no intentions of watching it again. As a few have mentioned, there was no suspense, etc... R.Z. just used gore and the shock factor to scare - which I'm tired of seeing in movies.

"One thing that really disappointed me was the fact that all RZ concentrated on was the aggression of Michael and less on the mystery and psychology of his character."This just goes to show that everyone loves different aspects of characters. I really enjoyed the brutality of the Michael. He was raw and determined. He had one goal, and NOTHING was going to stop him from going home.

He was much more interesting as "the shape", not FrankenMyers or a monster. I'll take suspense over brutality any day.

Just curious...we\'re a horror crowd, yet a lot of you are dissapointed or otherwise unhappy about the nudity in the film. Didn\'t nudity used to be a staple of horror films before they turned to crap? Does it just bother you cause this was a Halloween movie or do you just not think nudity should be in horror films?Slasher films have always had nudity...this was a slasher film.Oh, and I\'m not trying to preach to you guys or anything, just curious why you are so unhappy about boobies! <img src=\"http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" />

Don't get me wrong I love to look at some funbags and they had some hot girls in the movie(Danielle harris, mmmmm) It just seemed too much to basically have ever girl in this movie getting laid or showing there stuff, but I guess thats honestly how people are in the real world along with all the swearing. Kids are consmued on getting laid and swearing so realistically its right, but still I just thinks too many titties and all the swearing took alittle bit away from the movie. The beginning with the myers family( and ronny) at the kitchen table was just to out there. People just don't act like that, and talk about there stepkids(or GF kids) in that manner, well at least that i know off and I'm from the midwest.

I finally got to see this film last night since I was too sick on Thursday for the midnight show. I was definitely not disappointed...partially due to the fact that I knew what to expect from a Rob Zombie film, but also because I thought it was great. The backstory on the Myers family was pretty cool (even if some of the acting - Sheri Moon\'s in particular wasn\'t the best). I enjoyed Mane\'s brutal take on Myers and I totally (no pun intended) believed him as the little Michael all grown up. I even enjoyed the disturbing parts too as I feel that Rob Zombie has a knack for getting under people\'s skin and it really brought something to the film. I even enjoyed the several nods to the original whether it be music, dialogue, or actual shots....nice way to pay homage without falling into the \"remake\" category. That said, I have my caveats with the film. Though I enjoyed the emphasis on the Myers character in the beginning, I felt the modern day portion was too rushed. It just didn\'t feel like there was time to let things develop. That, plus I felt the shaky camera and tight shots were overused and even though I understand it is supposed to enhance the experience by making more visceral and claustrophobic, it ultimately left me wishing that they\'d pull back a little....too much of a good thing. One thing that makes the original stand out is it\'s use of space and time to create the suspense. This film didn\'t rely on that at all...which is pretty much what I expected, but in the end I wished they would have at least tried it out a little. But hey, what is ever going to compare to the original?

No problem with any of Rob's VISION in that department! The language however was overkill.

I saw the film Saturday, and...I'm really not sure what to think. I was actually really excited about this remake because it looked great in all the trailers and tv spots. I loved the young Myers scenes, even though they didn't last nearly long enough. I hated that Dr. Loomis' was introduced before the murders actually happened, and there were also a lot of wierd up close shots that didn't really fit in. The asylum scenes were really awkward, especially the senseless killings. Then when we cut to 15 years later on Michael's escape day we see this lurking giant, who breaks through chains and escapes from a bunch of guards with guns. The parts with Michael as an adult were pretty good, although they were entirely rushed, and absolutely no character developement was made. We literally just get introduced to the characters, and then in the next scene we get to see them die. The dialogue was extremely bad, and sounded completely stupid. We didn't see Dr. Loomis nearly enough, there wasn't any real conflict or confrontation between him and Michael.SPIOLER!!!I did really like the fact that Michael did not intend on killing Laurie until she stabbed him. END SPIOLERThe ending was OK, and overall I enjoyed the film. It just seemed like Rob Zombie wasn't sure how he wated the movie to look, almost as if he kept changing his mind throughout filming. I almost feel that if he focused more on either young Michael or adult Michael it would have been better. The scenes that were almost directly remade were really cool but almost just didn't fit in. If Rob would have just made his own film I think this would have been much better.

My stepdad was JUST like him. Insulting, abrasive, abusive. It happens ALL the time ALL over the world. There's all kinds of sick fuckers out there that beat their kids/stepkids and try to (and repeatedly do) molest and rape their daughters/stepdaughters. Stop living under a rock and pick up a newspaper every now and then.I don't want to come off like an asshole, but i lived that life from age 2 -17 with my stepdad. My stepdad used to smack me around and call me a fat load and ask me if i wads a queer all the time. When people deny that these kinds of "families" exist, it only perpetuates the cycle of abuse, incest, child molestation, and the molding of real life criminals. (and possible serial killers)
