I'm with DiedLaughing and Clint on this. It's cool seeing backstory, but as far as I'm concerned who the hell was Rob Zombie when John Carpenter wrote this classic. Here are some big problems with the film I have. You can say 'Don't compare it to the original', but whatever. Rob shouldn't have named it Halloween then. The movie doesn't rely on suspense, story, and buildup. It bounces around too much, and it's just like his other movies, (which I do like) that rely on gore and jumpiness, and mostly shock effect.Like I said, watching Michael's origins was kind of cool, but at the same time, what the hell?? Since when is Michael some greasy haired, rocker hick kid? I prefer him being a normal kid that suddenly changed and was never the same again. It's called adding mystery to the character. Something Rob didn't do. He made Michael your typical serial killer, that we know exactly why he's screwed up, which is because of his home life, that turns into a big lumbering idiot. I'm not exactly a fan of the whole thorn thing, but I do like the fact that Michael was mysterious and never really explained in the original. The music didn't fit, aside from the atmospheric noise and of course the original theme. I mean, Rush is a great band but Tom Sawyer in Halloween...? Seriously. And as was said before, the acting was terrible. I don't care how many times I see Sherry Moon's ass, it's never going to make me over-look her acting. It was cool seeing Danielle nude at first, but then she looked like a bloody nude 12 year old and I really didn't enjoy that. I've never heard of cheerleaders talking like vulgar hicks with hillbilly sayings and such. Also, I thought the language was far too foul for a Halloween movie. I don't know of any family that talks that like and it's completely unrealistic to what it should be. I'm not easily offended or anything, but the dialogue got rather ridiculous, as well as being written terribly. What was with the Devil's Rejects reunion? It's a cool movie and it's okay if a director has a few favorites, but that was ridiculous. Devil's Rejects doesn't hold a candle to Halloween, and Halloween shouldn't be 'underneath' that film, bringing back cameos of a film that is relatively new. I don't know if that made sense, but oh well.Rob has made 2 pretty cool movies, but this movie does not need the same gritty feel as those had. But he wears his influences too directly on his sleeve. I could literally pick out other movies in scenes from his version or whatever he's calling it. I'm just not happy with it. I'll probably end up buying it and maybe liking it some more (it did have some great adult Myers moments where he would stand and stare), but I just wasn't very impressed. Seriously.. remaking Halloween makes about as much sense as remaking Jaws.
IT'S ALIVE!
