I left a reply right after watching the movie last night. The more I think about the more I dislike it as a Jason movie. With him toting around dead bodies, holding people captive, running around underground through tunnels, this made the movie so NOT JASON. As a horror movie enthusiast I did enjoy it,but as a true jason fan I was a little disappointed.Just my opinion

Well.....I liked the Movie, but it did not feel like a Friday the 13th movie at all in my opinion. I think they should do more extensive scenes of Jason running into the forest and around the Lake.......showing and explain more about the ``Camp Blood´´...... I hated the idea of undground tunnels.I like the Pamela scene at the begining, but happened too fast and why not show Jason’s face when He finds the head of his mother !?!?Derek Mears did a fantastic job, He was great acting. I did however like the hockey mask, there’s much more details that seen in the photos. I liked the way that Jason found The Hockey too. I really liked the scene of the burning girl in the bag, it was one of my favs creative’s scene of death, if i rember the only that Jason don’t did his justice by his hands... letting it burn. I don’t like the way of the end, Jason Jump with the Hockey on his face, that should be a special moment to show his face without the Hockey Mask.....in slow motion (Remember F13 Part 2 Window Scene).I Can’t wait to buy a DVD because there is supposed to be some bad ass extended cut, something about 10 minutes of director’s cut. The movie was Hundred ways better then Jason Goes to Hell – Jason X – Freddy vs Jason. But is like you compare the original Halloween with Zombie’s Halloween; The Originals are untouchable in my opinion.

I'd have to say it was awful, they should have never called it a "remake" in the first place, and since when is jason so damn brilliant? And I'm pretty sure hes never had prisoners either...

It's a re-imagining. However in saying that you've got to understand that they wanted to rethink the character, which they did here. If you're going to re-imagine the character, why make everything about him the same? It's not like they took away the Hockey Mask or the machete which ARE Jason. They just changed his characteristics, possibly for the better. I think it was Larry that said he liked how they showed how he knew people were around as opposed to him simply teleporting lol I liked that. I like what they did with the character. It's about time they made him seem like a normal human being. Just because he had a physical deformity doesn't make him mentally retarded like he is often portrayed.

I find it funny that some people on here are complaining that there weren't any twists. Isn't the fact that Jason actually took a prisoner a twist? He's never done that before. I liked the idea of tunnels because it shows that Jason has been there for a long time and it came across to me like "this is truly Jason's territory" and you don't belong there.... SLASH. It was an enjoyable movie. I loved Jason in this one... he was big.. fast... and fricken brutal. That opening sequence up to the title was bone-chilling. I loved it when Jason quickly spun around at the girl before he ran up to her and... you get the idea.

I'm suprised so many people here are giving such bad reviews... Considering the crap that's been pumped out since Jason Takes Manhattan came out, I'd say this was a definite breath of fresh air. Maybe too many people have become accustomed to zombie, slumbering around Jason... I don't know.First off, I think Derek Mears did a terrific job as Jason! I'd say he's the best Jason has been played since Ted White. The movie did have that 'TCM' feel, but Nispel did direct it too, afterall. It did have a different feel than the originals, yeah, but when you consider camps aren't really a thing of the times now, it can't be a 'modern' campy movie so much. Out of all the Slasher remakes that have come out so far, I'd say this is my favorite. And I'd like to note, out of pure spite, that Rob Zombie's Halloween is STILL at the very bottom of the list; if you even want to consider it attached and in any way worthy of being included in a list.

Changing things here and there is the point in my opinion.I agree with Larry, this was a straight up FUN movie. If you seriously think that the old movies weren't cheaply made cash ins, then you are mistaken. This movie wanted to pull from the core elements of the first 4, which were a camp, a killer, and out of control teens. I'm sorry if some of you hate the "mtv teeny bopper kids" but this isn't 1981 and that's how kids are these days.I'd give this a 9.5/10 and it's my new favorite f13th.

Saw it last night and I had fun with it. The whole theatre was really into, clapping at every death, cheering for every boobie shot, and laughing at all the jokes. The movie did it's job. Which is good. It made me care about a couple of characters. Derrick did awesome as Jason. It did have the tcm feel to it, but i think its was mostly because the cinematographer was the same who did tcm as well as nispel directing. Only a couple of things really bugged me but i was able to dismiss them after i thought about it. For some reason i felt you saw the killer or jason too much, in the first 2 you really never saw him or his mother until the end of the movie, but then i thought jason was just bad ass in this one so i'm glad he got some screen time. The kidnapping was really weird, but then i thought i guess it was better to have him kidnapping a girl who he thought looked like his mother when mrs. voorhess was younger to have that kind of link with him instead of having jenny putting the the sweater and hiding her hair in it acting like mrs. voorhees. Then i wish there was a throwback to the older style music and i really don't ever remember in the movie of them mentioning the actual day being friday the 13th or june 13th being jason's b-day? but i might have missed that with the theatre talking and being into the movie. And how could you hate "Your tits are stupendous" my row of friends died laughing at that part.
