This is a very cool video. I think it helps to have something a little different like this when meeting Tom as it\'s sort of an ice breaker that grabs his attention. The first time I met Tom was at a Monster Mania con a few years back and he wanted to buy my Tallman bust from me. The last time I saw him was at MaskFest (a year and a half ago) and he was genuinely into this stuff like most of us are. It was nice to see him in that way, quite excited walking from table to table, looking over everyone\'s work.
"Welcome to the (insert random mask name here) club!!

    Bro... bra... brother... I\\\'m a wanna-be hipster!

One thing that I absolutely love is how well known, and documented Savini\'s bizarre convention behavior is. It\'s almost mythic in a way.
Dealing with Savini at a convention is a lot like an rpg, or one of those "choose your own adventure" books. I think someone should actually make a Tom Savini convention rpg, where one must "appease the sphinx like Savini" by "currying his favor, and earning his approving attention".
I think it would go a little something like this:
Choose action: approach Savini with casual greeting "Hi Mr. Savini! I am a big fan of your work!
Savini deflects action by averting gaze with dismissive "yeah...." -20 constitution, -30 stamina, afflicted with "disillusionment"
Equip: nubile skinny goth girl with large breasts.
Savini has been petrified by slutty young goth. Both you and Savini lose a turn.
Savini attempts evasive action by "leaving booth". You attempt a preemptive strike by presenting "high quality Lon Chaney Sr. Phantom of the Opera bust".
Savini -70mp. Savini says "That is gorgeous! Where did you get that? You gain "attention, and approval of Savini!" +50 charisma, and "leverage of the conversation" skill is gained!
Savini attempts "barter". You deflect Savini\'s "barter" with "refusal". Savini - 10,000 ego points. Savini is defeated!

Marvellous! Indeed I thought I was going to have to bring my wife along to garner civility from the man, alas the beguile spell within the HUD bust charmed him for 2 turns, enough to get the sigs and praise.!

James, your comment made me laugh like hell. Holy crap!

This thread is awesome in general. Thanks for posting the video...Looks like Savini is REALLY serious about having one of those HUDs someday. Can you really blame him, though?!

    Cheers,

    Ryan
