got this from Monte Wards private collection and it is incredible. never really understood the piece until Monte introduced me to a book by Yasushi Nirasawa with a bunch of beautiful figures of what i can only describe as....bug people. this is an original sculpt and paint from Monte & it is sweet. the brown Manhopper is still in his collection. he only made a few of these because the paint work is so time consuming. I do not have many non-movie related pieces in my collection but this is one i display proudly. This paint really shows what Monte is capable of. The antennas are made from feather spines (not sure if that is what they are called, but you know what I mean). on to the pics.

    Quote:Love it Mike!!!
For the people who don\'t know, it\'s based on a comic hero in Japan called Kamen-Rider.
The series has been going for over 40 years with a bunch of sequals, remakes and spin-offs.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamen_Rider_Series

The story is about an evil clan who plan on taking over the world who create an army of human animal hybrid cyborgs to attack humanity. The main character was a victim from these experiments and was made into a human grasshopper hybrid. Before the evil scientsts wiped his memory, he manages to escape and becomes a fugitive. He can change into his grasshopper costume at will with the help of his belt. Manages to get a supercharged motorcycle and fights against the evil forces that harm mankind...

The one Yasushi Nirasawa designed is based off a spin-off straight for video movie called Shin:Kamen Rider.
The only Rider of the series which wasn\'t a cyborg but a Bug humanoid.

thanks guys, for all the great comments and thumbs up on this incredible piece.

Kaizu posted this up on mm.net and i had to share it. it really adds to the piece knowing the story and characters it is based on.
