I managed to see it yesterday........visially it was stunning, but otherwise it was a big disappointment.
The first 5 mins of the film was total garbage. The CGI man reminded me of the bad CGI work associated with the "Mummy" films....just a terrible way to start a film......and don\'t even get me started on that giant octopus (face hugger) at the end.....WTF Ridley!

I liked it, BUT I thought I would get some answers about the "Alien Universe" but I only have more questions...

Sad to hear some negative views on this. I pretty much am not a fan of any movies nowadays, but I figured Ridley would not dissapoint.

I have not seen it yet but the wife is taking me to see it in 3D for my bday on Saturday.

I agree with Chad for the most part modern movies just suck there is no heart or creativity put into most new films just $$$.

I thought it was brilliant. An absolute masterpiece, in fact. Seen it 3 times already, and I\'m not done yet, either. This is also coming from someone whose favorite film of all time is, in fact, Alien.

It\'s definitely a polarizing piece of work though. You will either "get it" and love it for what it is, or you\'ll outright hate it. There appears to be no in-between.

To each their own, though. If it didn\'t work for you, fair enough. Everyone\'s mileage on this film will vary, as the amount of dissenting opinions out there will certainly attest. I think a lot of people are refusing to accept this film for what it is though, instead vocalizing extreme disappointment over it because of what they wanted it to be. Reminds me of back when Alien 3 came out lol. Prometheus may appreciate more with some naysayers in the years to come. Time will tell, I suppose.

I thought the beginning was masterfully done. How many films anymore can say so much in a scene without a single line of dialog spoken? It\'s breathtaking stuff, IMO. And that\'s not entirely CGI. It\'s actually a dude in full body make-up, for the most part. Im a massive alien fan but this film just sempt like a cop out its like they got half way through and thought i know we can milk this and make another to 2 films out of it so just tact on an alien at the end. Mr scott what have you become :-( i could of wrote a better ending and made it tie in to alien perfectly

I saw it tonight, I liked it a lot for what it was, I\'m seeing it more as an homage to Alien and H. R. Geiger\'s original artwork. Its NOT a prequel to Alien, it started out to be one but was altered script wise, and I think it was a good call. The beginning really struck me, it was such a fantastic way to set up the history and explanation for the plot! Like Hideous said, how many films have ever said so much in a single scene with no dialog, film wise it really is brilliant! I liked the Engineers, they were a departure from anything I was expecting but looked fantastic, especially in the suits! I REALLY want one of those helmets!! Visually it was stunning, the starkness of the landscape of LV226 to the biomechanical design of the ship. My favorite piece of Geiger is the space jockey, so it was mind blowing to see an explanation and setup of that!!
For the answers part, remember this was LV226 the planet in Alien and Aliens is LV426, so its another world the Engineers had landed on and released the bio weapon that is the Alien, so theres a small link but like I said I saw it as more of an homage, and in that really enjoyed it!
