One of my goals for 2011 is to be more productive and get better with my sculpture. One way to do this is to work on mini-busts daily whether i am working out a new creature or expression i think it will help me greatly. Also with some of them that turn out good i will like to take further and do a new line of resin castings both painted and unpainted. I also started a sketchblog i will be updating weekly with sketchs these quick sculpts.

Here are some sculpts from this week and last, about 1hr each. i prefer doing the larger ones approx 6-8in talll.

    Thanks for the replies

Here is a base i made that i will use for my monster line. The japanese charcters on the front stand for kaibutsu - monster (creature of abnormal form, wicked creature)

Here is the alien creature i finished on the base. I am going order more silicone next week to make a mold for him. I want to try out smooth-ons silicone thickener so i can do a brush on mold, i think it will be easier and will save silicone as opposed to a matrix mold. The base is casted here in translucent fleshtone resin.

first casting- the first casting turned out ok, only a few small issues. The front plaque is the biggest issue. The writing was small and deep so the mold didn't take it all and some ripped on this casting.

My plan is to dremel the front off and cast the plaque separately. I have three master bases that i tranfer the qood sculpts to so i will have to alter all three for future moldng then do a new separate plaque.

    thanks for looking,
    Brian
