try upgrading the firmware in your router. I had the same problem with my ps3 once where I kept getting kicked off. I upgraded the firmware in my router and it solved that problem. It's basically just overloading the bandwidth you can handle I believe. If your router is a linksys it should be an easy fix.

When you reset/unplug the router and/or modem.. fish out the battery if it has one, otherwise you're not really resetting it. WinkYour cable modem only handles one feed.. your router/rub is what allows you to use more than one connection.Plug your modem into the "internet" port of the router (or the #1 if there's none clearly labelled "input" or "internet")

Sounds to me that both your xbox and your computer are using the same ip address which is causing the conflict.

Don't reset the router!...if you did, you will need to reinstall the software to your computer and then go back in and retype the subnet masks and gateway, etc!First thing to do would be to see if both pull internet by themselves. Run one CAT5 from your modem to the computer, see if it pulls internet! IF IT DOES, pull the power cord out of the back of the modem, put in the CAT5 from your XBOX360, then reconnect the power cord. Wait till the correct lights pop up on the modem and then try to pull XBOXLIVE. When switching CAT5/ethernet cords out from ANY modem or router you most likely ALWAYS will need to power-cycle (power-cycle = pulling the power cord out of the router/modem when swapping CAT5/ethernet cables). You will probably need to powercycle FIRST before you will even be able to pull internet just for your computer. When you have found that you can pull internet to both devices alone, then you can try to use both the modem and router for multiple devices. This is what you'll need to do then!1. Unplug all power cords from the backs of the modem and router2. Plug in (ALL) CAT5/ethernet cables. One running from the router to the computer, one running from the router to the XBOX360, one running from the modem to the router. An based on what ISP you use, one running from the wall to the modem.3. After making sure all CAT5/ethernet connections are connected, THEN starting with the modem, plug the power cord back into it, wait for the proper lights to appear on the front. THEN plug the power cord back into the router, wait for the proper lights to appear on the front.4. At this point, unless there in another hidden factor at play, your internet should now bw working for both machines. If you ended up resetting the router, (little button you would push a pen into) you WILL probably have to reinstall and call the routers tech support. MOST of the time the modem and router aren't working because they need to be power-cycled! If you followed the steps above in the exact order, then you will most likely never need to power-cycle again and it will always just pull internet to both.Anymore questions?...just ask

    Nice.. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> I was referring to power-cycling rather than reset button, glad you clarified Warlock. Follow his advice.. dood.. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" />Also, just so you know, a switch IS a router.

A switch is not the same as a router. A router connects multiple networks together (in this case spaz's homenetwork out to the Internet) A switch connects devices on the Lan and with a connection to the router can forward the traffic out to the internet. With that said Spaz. I assume you are using a lynsys wireless router with a built in 4 port switch. Are you seeing green lights where both the PC and the Xbox connecting into the router?

Guess I learned something new.. my routers all say switches on them. Thanks dood. Instead it turns out that switches aren't always routers, but routers are always capable of doing the job of a switch.Look at it this way.. A Hub is passive and is just wiring that connects all items on it together.A Switch is a smart version of a hub, and can learn where data is going and direct it.A Router is a brainiac version of a Switch with programmable features, etc.If you need a hub, any of the three will work.If you need a switch, a router or switch will work. If you need a router.. you need a router. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" />
